Template:5e Mounts and Vehicles

A template to make 5e Mounts and Vehicles.
Although most parameters can be forced by providing information, the parameters are split in an attempt to make understanding the template easier. Except in the case of the "transport" parameter, the following groups are:

  • Mounts: Animals and Mounts.
  • Vehicles: Drawn Vehicles, Vehicles, and Watercraft.

Some parameters included in the "Transport Parameters" are done so for the possibility of Magical/Sentient Vehicles and will be ignored by most Vehicles.

Transport Parameters

General
Parameter Description
ac The Armor Class.
actions The actions.
alignment The alignment (Vehicles almost never use this).
cargocap The cargo or carrying capacity (Mounts can use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
cost The cost (in gp or rarity).
creaturecap The creature capacity (Mounts almost never use this).
description The description.
features The features.
hp The hit points for Vehicles, or average hit points for Mounts (Mounts typically use hd instead).
languages The known languages (Vehicles almost never use this).
nocategory Suppresses category generation (for User pages; any text means "yes").
senses Additional senses beyond vision (if any) or manual passive Perception (for Mounts, use with the "passiveperception" parameter).
size The size (Small, Medium, Large, etc.).
speed The speed or travel pace.
transport The category (Animal, Mount, Drawn Vehicle, Vehicle or Watercraft).
weight The weight.

Transport Parameters

Ability Scores
Parameter Details
str Strength score.
dex Dexterity score.
con Constitution score.
int Intelligence score (Vehicles almost never use this).
wis Wisdom score (Vehicles almost never use this).
cha Charisma score (Vehicles almost never use this).
Immunities and Resistances
Parameter Details
ci Condition immunities.
di Damage immunities.
dr Damage resistances.
dv Damage vulnerabilities.

Vehicle Parameters

Parameter Description
armortype The largest contributing factor to a vehicle's armor (Frame, Hull, Plate, Shielding, etc. This can include the armortype material.)
attunement The attunement (for Magical Vehicles).
classification The vehicles classification (a specific group). It should try to broadly signal the domain (ground, water, air, space) and its use (commercial, military, private, etc.).
components The vehicle components.
dmgthres The damage threshold for the armortype.
space The dimensions of a vehicle "LENGTH ft. by WIDTH ft." (optionally "by HEIGHT ft."; this should align with the size.)

Mount Parameters

General
Parameter Description
ba The bonus actions (if any).
cr The Challenge Rating (a number).
hd The number of Hit Dice (most Mounts will use this alone; automatically calculates average hit points for SRD sizes)
hitdice A semi-manual hit point calculation ("Xd5", "Xd8", etc.; use with the "hp" parameter; automatically calculates the bonus hit points based on Challenge Rating and Constitution score).
hpdice A completely manual hit point calculation (for homebrew sizes; use with the "hp" parameter).
jump For jumping distances (use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
legendary The Legendary actions (if any).
proficiency The proficiency bonus (include the plus; overrides the standard bonus based on Challenge Rating).
race The race (if any).
reactions The reactions (if any).
type The type (Aberration, Humanoid, Ooze, Undead, etc.).
xp The experience points (overrides the autogenerated XP based on Challenge Rating).
Ability Scores

strmod Strength score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
dexmod Dexterity score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
conmod Constitution score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
intmod Intelligence score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
wismod Wisdom score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
chamod Charisma score modifier (include plus or minus; overrides automatic calculation).
Saving Throws
saves The saving throws (a comprehensive list of bonuses; this overrides the proceeding saves).
strsave Strength saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
dexsave Dexterity saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
consave Constitution saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
intsave Intelligence saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
wissave Wisdom saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).
chasave Charisma saving throw proficiency (include the plus; use "yes" to automatically calculate this).

misc Adds the Miscellaneous Creature category (any text means "yes").
arctic Adds the Arctic Monster category (any text means "yes").
coastal Adds the Coastal Monster category (any text means "yes").
desert Adds the Desert Monster category (any text means "yes").
forest Adds the Forest Monster category (any text means "yes").
grassland Adds the Grassland Monster category (any text means "yes").
hill Adds the Hill Monster category (any text means "yes").
mountain Adds the Mountain Monster category (any text means "yes").
swamp Adds the Swamp Monster category (any text means "yes").
underwater Adds the Underwater Monster category (any text means "yes").
urban Adds the Urban Monster category (any text means "yes").

Senses
Parameter Description
blindsight The blindsight (number of feet).
darkvision The darkvision (number of feet).
tremorsense The tremorsense (number of feet).
truesight The truesight (number of feet).
passiveperception Hides the automatically calculated passive perception (use "no").
Skills
Parameter Description
skills The skills (a comprehensive list of bonuses; this overrides the proceeding skills).
acrobatics The Acrobatics skill bonus (include the plus, use "yes" or "expertise" to automatically calculate this).
animalhandling The Animal Handling skill bonus (include the plus, use "yes" or "expertise" to automatically calculate this).
arcana The Arcana skill bonus (include the plus, use "yes" or "expertise" to automatically calculate this).
athletics The Athletics skill bonus (include the plus, use "yes" or "expertise" to automatically calculate this).
deception The Deception skill bonus (include the plus, use "yes" or "expertise" to automatically calculate this).
