Combat[edit]
Red foxes are incredibly agile and clever creatures, and have excellent eyesight, hearing, scent, and agility. Their downfall is that they are quite fragile- even a fox the size of a wolf would easily lose to a pony if kicked. For this reason, they tend to stay hidden until their foe chances nearby, at which point the fox silently springs for the throat. When hunting in groups, they often encircle the prey from all sides. Also, foxes live in dens dug into the ground, however they are not very quick at digging.
Attach (Ex): If a red fox hits with a bite attack, it uses its powerful jaws to latch onto the opponent’s body and automatically deals bite damage each round it remains attached. An attached red fox loses its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class and has an AC of 13. An attached red fox can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself. To remove an attached red fox through grappling, the opponent must achieve a pin against the creature.
Skills: Red foxes have a +4 racial bonus on Climb, Escape Artist, and Spot Checks, and a +10 racial bonus on Balance, Hide, and Jump checks; when in tall grass of undergrowth, they receive an additional +6 to Hide checks. They receive +6 on Listen checks, and + 8 on Move Silently checks.
Familiar:A Wizard or Sorcerer can select a red fox as a familiar. They grant their master a +3 to Listen checks.
Animal Companion: A Druid or Ranger can select a red fox as an animal companion.
