Dire Stingray (4e Creature)
Regular Stingrays are timid creatures that only attack if provoked. However, Dire Stingrays are violent, solitary creatures that will attack anything that trespasses into its claimed territory.
Dire stingrays are completely gray with perfectly spherical eyes which glow orange in areas of low light. They have 2 rows of 10 sharp fangs and bone protrusions running down their spine, their tail is typically 8-16 inches long and are wickedly barbed.

A Character knows the following information with a successful Nature skill check
DC 10: Dire Stingrays can be found in nearly every aquatic environment, however they prefer warm tropical climates
DC 15: At a very young age, Dire Stingrays seek out undersea formations such as coral reefs and undersea caves, which they will settle in for life, and feed on anything that swims by its chosen home, if other dire stingrays attempt to trespass, they are chased away with intimidating glares, and are violently maimed as a last resort
DC 18: During mating season, Dire Stingray males will compete for females in all out death matches in which each would whip the other with their tail until one of them would die, with the winner earning the female. Long tails are considered a sign of fitness and desirable
