An eerie shadow on the floor, cast by nothing in the sky, extends from an object. Firstly, a 10 by 10 feet circular blob, then the blob extends itself further with 5 tentacles reaching from it. These tentacles slither out to 20 feet long and waiver. Nothing but shadows, yet something eerily disturbing about them. Then, without warning; a massive black tentacle erupts from the ground, smaller tentacles whipping off its body, grabbing at anything close to it; pulling it in. The tentacle promptly submerges back into the solid ground.

An Onikage is a transdimensional beast that can only be summoned to the material plane through use of powerful demonic items. They are large beasts that inhabit a cold, infinite plane of nothing that barely borders the material plane. Their exact form is disturbing to even the most seasoned eyes, a large mound of gnawing teeth and tentacles comprise the centeral body, with five massive tentacles sprawling from it. Each appendage is covered in hundreds upon thousands of smaller tentacles. The underbelly the Onikage has a single mouth, with two rows of teeth circling all around it. Hanging from tendrils around the mouth are bodies, frozen in time, just waiting to be devoured by the Onikage.

When summoned by any medium, an Onikage latches onto the object as it crosses a transdimensional border. This acts as an anchor for the Onikage that allows it to cross the border between its own dimension and the material plane. The Onikage can effortlessly pass through the border, but cannot move from the spot that its anchor is. A Onikage is also blind, as it has no way of seeing into the material plane. It can, however, sense tremors within 60 feet of the anchor, pinpointing creatures. An Onikage can only be damaged when one of its appendages has crossed the barrier onto the material plane, meaning it cannot be hit while in its own dimension.

The Onikage are actually thought to be Demon Gods from a far off existence banished to a dire fate in their own infinite dimension of nothing, their forms finally skewing to such an atrocious form from their long solitary. They wish so much to return to a real world, they anchor onto anything that calls them and tries its hardest to feed on anything it can get ahold of in a world, so that one day, it may return.

Combat

An Onikage uses its abiltiy to phase inbetween the two dimensions to its advantage, especially utilizing it's grappling abilities to attempt to take its opponents into its own dimension and freeze them for later storage and devouring. When reduced to quarter hit points, an Onikage brings its central body into the Prime and attempts to pull anything near into one of the many smaller orifices across its top to replenish its hit point total. An Onikage always does its best to defend its Transdimensional Anchor, utilizing its Produce Teeth ability and grappling powers to drag anyone attempting to get to it to their deaths.

Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, an Onikage must hit with a tentacle attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can constrict. If the central body is in the Prime and the central body is grappling, then the Onikage may attempt to swallow the foe the following round.

Constrict(Ex): An Onikage deals 3d6+13 points of damage with a successful grapple check.

Swallow Whole (Ex): An Onikage can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of a smaller size than itself by making a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 2d8+13 points of crushing damage plus 5 points of negative energy damage per round from the Onikage's life-sucking stomach. The Onikage regains the the amount of negative energy damage done in its own HP. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by using a light slashin gor piercing weapon to deal 10 points of damage to the fleshy area near the top of the stomach (SRD:AC 10)). Once the creature exists, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. An Onikage's stomach can only hold a single being at any one time, nevermind the size.

Transdimensionally Anchored(Su): An Onikage is anchored to the spot by a summoning object. In such, it cannot move from the spot that the object occupies in the ground. The Onikage's connection from the Prime can be severed by removing the Transdimensional Anchor from the ground, severing the link between the Onikage's dimension and the Plane. The anchor acts as a direct link to the Onikage in reference to spells, allowing for direct damage spells to be cast at it rather than the Onikage. Any damage done to the anchor is done to the Onikage instead. The Anchor has an AC of 10.

Transdimensional Attack(Su): An Onikage, while summoned, is capable of existing in two planes of existence at the same time; it's own dimension and the Material Plane. This allows it to literally 'hide' in its own dimension and avoid any damage from weapons or spells. An Onikage can only be directly damaged while part of its body is on the Material Plane and it can only attack while part of its body is the Material Plane (Except for Produce Teeth). Moving between the two dimensions for an Onikage is a move action. The Onikage's dimension is of such a way that only an Onikage is capable of existing on it in a temporal state. If something is dragged into the Onikage's Dimension, they must make a Fortitude Save (DC 23 (10 + Half HD + 8)) every round or be effected by a Temporal Stasis spell. If an entity is capable of getting free of the grapple while in the Dimension, it is immediatly thrust out into the Material Plane. This effect ends immediatly if the being is moved back into the Material Plane.

Transdimensional Storage(Su): When an Onikage drags a body into its own dimension, it stores them on its underbelly, near the main mouth; ready to feed on the body if necessary. It takes 5 turns to move an inert body to its storage from one of the 5 limbs. If something is dragged in from the main body, it takes 3 turns to move the body to the storage. The Onikage only moves bodies that have been successfully frozen by the Temporal Stasis effect of the Dimension. An Onikage can only hold a total of 10 humanoids in its storage area and eats one humanoid per year.

Produce Teeth(Ex): On the main body, an Onikage can produce large white teeth from its body, thrusting them through its black ooze-like body. It can do this through transdimensionally, so it needn't be on the Material Plane to use this ability. Teeth are thrust up quickly at anyone intruding on its body that's a threat. Produced Teeth deal a 3d6+13 damage. A reflex save (DC 15 (10 + Half HD)) allows for half damage against the sudden production of teeth. Teeth are retracted one round later and each set of teeth takes up a 5 foot square.

Death Throes(Ex): When killed, an Onikage sinks into the ground and the shadow slowly disappears. Any remaining humanoids that were in the Transdimensional Storage of the Onikage float up to the surface and awaken from the temporal stasis effect. Also, the items of the last digested humanoid are expelled onto the Material Plane. The Dimensional Anchor is loses its attracting power, expelling its energy into the Onikage's Dimension.

Skills: Onikages have a +16 racial bonus to Move Silently checks. They also gain a +4 racial bonus to Listen Checks. They gain a +16 bonus to their initial Hide Check if they have not been spotted, but cannot attempt another Hide Check after being spotted.
