Improved Continual Flame
Evocation (Light) [Light]
Level: Cleric 5, Sorcerer/Wizard 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Effect: Object touched
Duration: Permanent (see text)
Saving Throw: None (harmless)
Spell Resistance: No

This spell is identical to continual flame save that you retain control over the exact luminance of the flame, even to the point of snuffing it out temporarily, and you may even alter the coloration of the flame. It takes only a swift mental action to alter the flame, but you may only do so once per round. The light level ranges from no light at all to full illumination within a 60-foot radius. Any character with an Intelligence or Wisdom of 11 or higher, including sentient objects that may have had the spell cast upon them unwillingly, can gain control of the flame simply by touching the object it is bound to.

Light spells counter and dispel darkness spells of an equal or lower level.

Material Component
You sprinkle ruby dust (worth 50gp) on the item that is to carry the flame.
