Ants throwing acid. That's something you'd never thought you'd see.

Yellow ants are believed to be the result of magical experiments done on ants. These ants would have had to be either released or escaped, as they now exist in the wild. Yellow ants have gained some intelligence and have also gained natural magical abilities as a result of their origin. They are called yellow ants because they are just that - yellow.

Combat

A yellow ant swarm will surround any living creature it encounters, flinging its spells as it does so. A swarm deals 1d6 points of damage to any creature whose space it occupies at the end of its move. If a swarm successfully kills a creature, it will begin tearing it apart to transport back to the colony.

Distraction (Ex): Any living creature that begins its turn with a yellow ant swarm in its space must succeed on a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Honorary Mindlessness (Ex): Yellow ants may have intelligence, but they are treated as mindless for mind-affecting effects.

Spells: Yellow ants all have nonthreatening minuscule magical abilities, but when they combine these, they can become at least decent magic. Yellow ant swarms cast like sorcerers of the 1st level and can choose from any spells that a sorcerer would have access to at this level. Unlike actual sorcerers, yellow ants don't require the Charisma score to cast the spell and use the base spell stats for the class. The most common spells for a yellow ant swarm are as follows; Acid Splash, Daze, Flare, Mage Hand, Shield, Sleep.

Skills: A yellow ant swarm has a +4 racial bonus on Hide and Climb checks.
