Gluttons

Personality

Out of all the activities a Glutton engages in, eating is the primary passtime. A typical Glutton will eat over three times their body weight in a single day due to their insatiable eating addiction. Besides that, Gluttons also love drinking, listening to music, and occasionally engaging in tests of strength. Those of a more magical bent will often pore through tomes of necromancy, eager to pursue their race's chosen form of magic.

Physical Description

Gluttons are the same general height as dwarves, but they often weigh well over 200 pounds due to their overeating. Despite this, they have a hyperdeveloped muscular system that is evident to any onlooker. Unlike their dwarven kin, Gluttons have bone-white skin and various light shades of hair, and their eyes on always warmly-colored. The most typical Glutton eye color is orange. They enjoy roomy clothes that can at least partially hide their swollen bellies, often preferring fancy garments most races would save for the nobility.

Relations

Gluttons suffer the distaste of nearly all other races. Humans and elves see them as overindulgent louts due to their overeating, while gnomes and halfings dislike their more vulgar sense of humor. Dwarves see them as mockeries of the dwarven people, both due to their lack of restraint and their heritage as magically-altered dwarves. Among the more savage races, their strength and necromantic powers earn them not only tolerance but respect.

Alignment

The Gluttons' alignment is mostly based on their government, which is rife with corruption. As a result Gluttons have learned to live the good life at the expense of those weaker than them and so adopt a lawful evil alignment. The rare Glutton who defies the major powers of their race often flees and takes on a good alignment.

Lands

Gluttons prefer places where the sun's rays don't damage their naturally pale skin, and so often reside in cold mountains or underground. They require large supplies of food, often taking it from either the surrounding landscape or weaker communities near them.

Religion

No singular deity holds much sway over the Glutton race. Every deity can be found among these people, so long as their teachings do not require deprivation of one's food, drink and humor.

Language

Gluttons speak Dwarven, albeit with a thick accent, and most learn at least one other language.

Names

First names among the Gluttons are similar to those of dwarves, while clan names are usually related to eating.

Sample Clan Names: Goldenspoon, Ironfork, Hamshank, Bearsteak, Rocleg.

Racial Traits

  • +2 Intelligence, -2 Dexterity: Gluttons learn quickly compared to many other races, but their often sedentary lifestyles lead to lack of dexterity.
  • Humanoid: Gluttons have no particular bonuses for their type.
  • Medium: Gluttons take no bonuses or penalties for their size.
  • Glutton base land speed is 20 feet.
  • Necromancy Talent (Su): Gluttons are the product of fusing dark magic with dwarven bodies. When casting Necromancy spells, they add +1 to their caster level to determine spell effects.
  • Gluttony: The Gluttons' racial dependance on food has altered their metabolisms dramatically. They can go for only one day without food before making Constitution checks to avoid starvation damage (as opposed to three days), but they are immune to all ingested poisons with a DC below their character level.
  • Automatic Languages: Dwarven. Bonus Languages: Any other (except secret languages such as Druidic).
  • Favored Class: Wizard (Necromancer).
  • Level Adjustment: +2
