The charmed target sees the yuki-onna as a close friend or lover and will obey the yuki-onna’s verbal commands. If the target suffers any harm or receives a suicidal command, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success. If the target successfully saves against the effect, or the effect on it ends, the target is immune to this yuki-onna’s Charm for the next 24 hours. Draining Kiss. The yuki-onna kisses a creature charmed by it or a willing creature. The target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 32 (5d10 + 4) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

In the frozen forests of the north, the yuki-onna stalk their prey. They appear before lost and lonely travelers, offering them warmth and comfort. Then, when the unsuspecting soul comes into her arms, the yuki-onna steals their life with a freezing kiss. Ethereal Beauty. Yuki-onna resemble breathtaking human or elven women, with long raven hair and skin as pale as snow. They often wear sheer white gowns, kimonos, and other fanciful clothes ill-suited to the freezing climates in which they dwell. Frigid Temptresses. Yuki-onna prey on humanoids much as succubi do, though they are not fiends. In addition to their unearthly beauty, they have the power to ensnare men’s minds, the better to lure victims into their deadly embrace. Their very touch drains warmth from a living creature’s body, until all that remains is a frozen corpse. Elemental Forces. Yuki-onna originally hailed from the coldest reaches of the Feywild, and they have innate power over ice and snow. That they often appear before their victims during blizzards is no coincidence, for they know exactly when such storms will occur and can even create them through magic. Though they prefer to go after lone prey and will flee if outnumbered, a yuki-onna that has been backed into a corner is a force to be reckoned with. Patient Predators. Yuki-onna make their lairs near roads and trade routes, waiting for travelers to pass by. They will stalk travelers and caravans for days, singling out targets to lure away from the group. Only then, when a suitable opportunity presents itself, will she whip up a blizzard and move in for the kill. |
