The shadow guardian is a creature summoned from Shadowfell, usually to perform the function of a sentry. They are not undead, though commonly mistaken to be one. Their bodies have essence of shadowstuff, which coalesces in the form of armor. Despite this appearance, they remain wholly amorphous, able to dissolve into darkness on a whim to evade attacks and slip under doors. Like a normal shadow, they can drain the life and fight out of those who oppose them. However, they are not evil. Rather, they see all life and light as something unnatural. They therefore end up serving under many nefarious purposes. |
