Compound Eyes Compound eyes are made up of thousands of individual visual receptors, called ommatidia. Each ommatidium is a functioning eye in itself, and thousands of them together create a broad field of vision for the fly. This gives the fly the ability to see all around it at all times effectively giving it the Improved Uncanny Dodge barbarian class ability.

Ecology

Environment: The common fly is in just about any environment that isn't too extreme. They thrive in temperate and wet climates where they can easily hatch their offspring and find food. The common fly can be found in arid regions, although it will not thrive in such regions. Houseflies will never be found in particularly cold climates like tundras or arctic like environments.

Typical Physical Characteristics: The common fly is barely the size of a fingernail. It's quick and relatively tough for its size. Flies have compound eyes which let them see all around them with ease.
