Simple folks are afraid of barbarians because of their raw damage. Human and elven laws ban barbarians. Most barbarians are orcs and ogres, but there are dwarf barbarians too.

Bards aren't taken seriously in combat, because in peoples' minds they are only entertainers. However, they are more powerful than they can seem.
