Against most creatures, this spell functions just like call lightning or call lightning storm, except that you may call up to 20 bolts and each bolt does 7d6 damage (7d10 in a stormy area).

When a lightning bolt from this spell does damage to an evil or undead creature, half of the damage is divine damage and cannot be negated by any source of electricity resistance or immunity that the target possesses. In addition, the lightning itself wraps itself around the creature instantaneously if it fails its Reflex save. The creature is held in place by bonds of holy lightning for 1 round/caster level. These bonds are divinely enchanted so that the victim is completely and utterly incapable of moving under its own power, let alone escaping; it is for all intents and purposes paralyzed and helpless, even if it would normally be immune to paralysis, and is considered entangled for the purpose of taking purely mental actions (that is, it must succeed on a Concentration check, or the action fails and is wasted). The bonds last for 1 round/3 caster levels or until removed by freedom, break enchantment, remove curse, unbinding[1], or a successful dispel magic.

A creature with the Evil subtype hit by a lightning bolt from this spell suffers the above effect and has a bit of its soul obliterated by the strike. It immediately gains 1d6 negative levels, but is allowed a Fortitude save to halve the amount.
