This spell can be cast either on a piece of wood that the caster can see or that she can remember. It may be natural or magical wood. The spell grants the caster knowledge of the tree's entire existence, what occurred around it while alive, how it died, and what has happened to every scrap of wood that came from it. This knowledge is not forgettable through non-magical means.
