  1. The SRD only gives a means to determine costs and weights of weapons for Large and Small versions based on the Medium weapons. Any other supplied values are the author's best determination.

Hooks are most commonly used as tools of trade by various laborers, including fishermen. They can serve as weapons in a pinch, and some blacksmiths forge specialized hooks precisely for this purpose. A combat hook can vary in design greatly: some have elaborate handguards, while others are little more than iron crooks with a handle.

You can use a hook to make trip attacks. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the hook to avoid being tripped.
