More information...

The psychotic charger was developed by the Psychotic Assembly; a cult of Transgressors dedicated to developing psionic weapons. They are among the few surviving creations of this cult, as most of those hated creations were systematically destroyed.

The psychotic charger is based on the heavy horse. The Assembly augmented the creature with inborn psionic powers, much akin to those of a psychic warrior. They are temperamental beasts, apt to kill indiscriminately and eat their kills. They will have no master who is not psionicly endowed. Even then, their owner must have the Leadership feat and take them on as an NPC cohort.

Those who take on these creatures as cohorts are well rewarded. In addition to being suicidally loyal, these creatures advance as NPC cohorts, acquiring new powers and abilities as their masters rise in level. These creatures exist to transport their riders into difficult locations and to use their own powers to protect their riders. Any psycotic charger that loses its rider considers itself a failure and will do its best to die fighting. If it lives, it will grieve and may eventually take a new master.

The most famous maneuver of these creatures is their ability to conquer sheer walls with the Up the Walls feat. The Trangressors conquered many many fortresses using this maneuver. Staying on a charger using this ability can be challenging, requiring a DC 15 Ride check each move to stay mounted.

The table below describes the advancement of a psychotic charger. The charger described above is Animal 3/Psychotic Charger 1. More advanced chargers acquire the abilities listed below. Advance the creature's hit die, BAB, saves, and other such abilities as if they were psychic warriors. The creatures are preprogrammed with their first level. All levels after first represent a typical psychotic charger. Cohort chargers may have different feats and psionic abilities, as described by psychic warrior class.

These creatures are confident in most environments and are willing to enter dungeons and other underground places.

Carrying Capacity: A light load for a psychotic charger is up to 200 pounds; a medium load, 201–400 pounds; and a heavy load, 401–600 pounds. A psychotic charger can drag 3,000 pounds.
