Standing at roughly twenty feet tall when standing, the ashen beast is an indomitable fortress of muscle. It is bipedal in nature but will drop to a quadruped stance to charge head first at prey. The beast has a pair of cloven hoofed feet that can be used for crushing the bones of prey; large, clawed hands for pummelling with fists or lacerating with claws; a broad, muscular chest littered with old battle scars; a distorted, feline-like head in a constant state of anger and grey feathers that clot around its feet, hands and neck like a mane. On its head resides a crown of horns, one pair facing outwards curving downwards like a ram's horns and one facing back. They are often intelligent enough, some even retaining their former human minds. A select few can change from beast to human form at will and blend in with society. No one is certain how an Ashen Beast is created. Rumor has it that devils wished to create a monster that could rival a demon's ferocity, but not be completely mindless. Others talk of them being created by Baphomet, to be the ultimate prey to hunt, or the ultimate predator to hunt alongside in the abyss. Some skeptics of faith and the evils in the world simply say they are cursed, for the one thing known is that every ashen beast was once humanoid in nature. Whatever the case, an Ashen Beast unchecked will cause entire mountain ranges to suffer, with animals migrating away or some even being brought to extinction in the area from its obsessive hunting and feeding, of which it prefers to dine on beast and monster, rather than humanoid. |
