The common zombie is a corpse raised into undeath by evil magic. A possessed zombie is a corpse risen by becoming possessed by the spirit of a demon or other fiend, wanting to sneak into the Material Plane via the Ethereal Plane. Although the spirit would prefer a more powerful living host, a corpse will do if available. Unlike ordinary zombies, possessed zombies avoid hazards and wield weapons if available.
