Accursed Wisp

This variant Warlock class feature, can be taken by a 6th level Hexblade Warlock instead of gaining the Accursed Specter feature.

Starting at 6th level, you can infuse the negative emotions around you with the corrupt blood running through your veins, shaping them into a spirit of pure wickedness. As an action, you can sacrifice your own life force to call forth an Accursed Wisp, reducing your maximum hit points a number equal to your character level. These lost maximum hit points return once the wisp dies. The wisp treats the amount sacrificed as its own hit point maximum. Its other statistics are those of a Will-o'-Wisp found in the Monster Manual.


While the wisp is within 120 feet of you, you can control it telepathically on your turn as if you would your own body (no action required by you).

The wisp can take one action or bonus action per turn from the available Will-o'-Wisp actions.

In addition, it can expend all of its remaining hit points to cause one of the following effects:

  • Vile Arcana. Cast any one spell of 3rd level or lower from the warlock spell list, for which used is your spellcasting ability.
  • Enchanced Curse. Add your Charisma modifier to the damage rolls of Hexblade's Curse.
  • Self-destruct. All creatures in a 10 foot radius sphere centered on the wisp, must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. A creature takes force damage equal to twice the wisps maximum hit points on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successul one.


Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
