Aversion to Daylight (Ex) If exposed to natural daylight (not merely a daylight spell), Kraata take a -4 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks.
Darkvision (Ex) Kraata can see up to 60 ft. in dark areas.
Infect (Ex) A Kraata has a toxic bite that can cause infection, dealing initial and secondary damage of 1d6 Wis per hour (Fort Save DC 12 (10 + 1/2 HD + Con) to resist damage). While infected, a creature slowly becomes chaotic evil and unnaturally angry. The Infected creature must make a Will save (DC 10) to resist attacking whoever they're interacting with each time a Cha-based check is made against them. This effect counts as a injury-based poison.

Strategies and Tactics

Kratta aren't too smart. They go for the throat based on instinct, and run if their pray has proven to be too much to handle. Their bite is usually all they need to get away from most bigger things in the depths in which they live, but anything around their size (Small or smaller) is usually fair game. Although not creatures of a social persuasion, Kratta instinctively hunt in swarms (4-6) to better their chances at satiating their own hunger.

Sample Encounters

Ecology

Environment: Kratta are creatures of darkness, and as such they prefer as little light as possible. Their hives and nests have been known to be clusters of small alcoves in deep caves, tho most reside closer to their Makuta's lair for convenience sake.

Typical Physical Characteristics: Slug-like, many beady eyes, worm-esq mouth, squishy but not slimy.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Lore

Kraata were created in darkness from darkness and by darkness, being the "Sons of Makuta." They do the bidding of the Makuta who made them.

Society

Appart from sharing a common nest or hive, Kraata tend not to socialize with one-another. Their vile nature tends to lead them to corals and even pit fights more naturally than cooperation. There's a good chance that, if more than 1 Kraata is seen in the same area not at eachothers throats, it's their hive or a Makuta sent them to commit evil deeds.

Sample Lair

Typical Treasure

Kratta do not know nor care what it means to hold things dear. Nothing can be found on them apart from their squishy, lifeless form after their defeat.

Advanced Creatures

As Kraata mature, they gain HD and abilities through their life stages. There are 6 stages total for each individual type of Kraata, and a 7th common stage between the types. Upon achieving their 7th stage, a Kraata will turn shades of deep purple and black, and their shape may possibly change to look like that of any Kraata stage.

Each stage Grants the Kraata an an additional HD (which also increases BAB as appropriate).
