Path of the Poet (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Path of the Poet
Barbarians are too often portrayed as angry, chaotic warriors who prefer ripping off limbs to rippin’ sweet tunes on a lute. But some Barbarians do choose this path of shredding chords over shredding flesh and this is the path those Barbarians choose. The Path of the Poet gives a Barbarian the chance to show their soft side and give them a few utility skills that could help not only them but their party too, as well as throw a sick party with their killer repertoire!
- Musical Talents
At 3rd Level you gain proficiency with any instrument of your choice and you use it to channel any Poetic skills you earn along the Path of the Poet. You also gain two cantrips of your choice from the Bard Spell List
- Poetic Inspiration
From 3rd Level onward you can inspire others through stirring words accompanied by your instrument's music. To do so, you use a Bonus Action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you. That creature gains one Poetic Inspiration die, a d6. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, Attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Poetic Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Poetic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one Poetic Inspiration die at a time. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a Long Rest. Your Poetic Inspiration die changes when you reach certain levels in this class. The die becomes a d8 at 6th level, and a d10 at 10th level.
- Poet's Persistence
At 6th Level the poetic power that fuels your rage can protect you from death. If you fail a saving throw while you’re raging, you can reroll it, and you must use the new roll. You can use this ability only once per rage.
- Sweet Tongued
At 6th Level you can sing a short lullaby to a target to grant them temporary hit points. Using a bonus action on your turn you can choose a target other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you and they gain temporary hit points based on a d4; the die gets replaced with a d6 at 6th level, and a d8 at 10th. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
- Poet's Cry
At 10th level, you learn to channel poetic power to inspire others in battle. As an action, you unleash a great poetic cry infused with great energy. Up to ten other creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you that can hear you gain advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
- Singing Psycho
At 14th level, while enraged you emit glorious singing that resounds deep into the soul of your friends and foes alike. You gain 10 feet to your movement and effect targets that are within 5 feet of you during your movement. If you pass within 5 feet of a friendly target they gain a bonus to all damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier, but if you pass within 5 feet of an aggressive target they lose damage equal to your Charisma modifier and they have disadvantage to saving throws against intimidation and persuasion. Both of these effects last while you are enraged but you can only use this ability once per long rest.
