Mountain beasts, sometimes called stoneshells or mountain turtles, are large creatures that wander mountains. They are sometimes used as pack animals by mountain tribes, but even in the wild, they are usually docile, unless they are provoked. They have thick, heavy shells, but they are unusually agile for creatures with massive shells and adept at climbing. They eat mountain plants, but they can also eat stones and they sometimes scavenge carcasses, which means that occasionally, they have coins and gems inside their innards.
