Earth Glide. The pyrogodon can burrow through nonmagical, unworked earth and stone. While doing so, the pyrogodon doesn't disturb the material it moves through.

Stone Camouflage. The pyrogodon has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in rocky terrain.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The pyrogodon makes four attacks: one with its bite, two with its claws, and one with its tail.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (2d12 + 7) piercing damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d10 + 7) slashing damage plus 10 (3d6) fire damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 29 (5d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage.


Ancient legends tell that a demon lord whose name is now long-forgotten once travelled to the Elemental Plane of Earth. Seeing many mighty stones, he imbued them with slivers of foul magic, animating them and transforming them into foul monsters, and calling them pyrogodons, he marched with them to wage war on the multiverse. When he was defeated in a power struggle, his mighty earthen warriors were scattered across the Lower Planes, where they still plot revenge.
The body of a pyrogodon is not dissimilar to that of an ape, with hunched posture and stony bristles that resemble fur. Pyrogodons are covered in mystical patterns that glow when they are angered, but when a pyrogodon is defeated, the lights fade and its body falls to pieces, though its soul reforms on the Elemental Plane of Earth over months or years. A slain pyrogodon remembers everything from its past existence and often seeks to slay those that would dare destroy it. A pyrogodon can be destroyed permanently if it is slain while in the area of an antimagic field or otherwise prevented from returning to the Plane of Earth.

Gem Eaters. In battle, a pyrogodon relies on its stony hide for defence, and its mighty claws, tail and fangs for offence, all the while moving at unnatural speed to confound opponents, often using minions forced into servitude to harry powerful opponents while the pyrogodon destroys weaker allies, prioritising spellcasters. They must eat stones, gems, and ores to survive, and its foul temper drives it to kill any who stand in its way.

Elemental Nature. A pyrogodon doesn't require air, drink, or sleep.
