Talk:Drakelf (5e Subrace)
From D&D Wiki
Draco-elves seem like an interesting homebrew race, and is one I want to use sometimes. Instead of deleting it, more effort should be put in to balance the race e.g. can only use the breath attack once per long rest
- Then do something about it, be bold, else it will be deleted in a few days. Also, you can just play a draconic origins sorcerer and be an elf if you wanted to play this concept well. ConcealedLight (talk) 05:40, 8 February 2018 (MST)
- I would, but I feel like if I did, I would mess something up. And it would be easier if there was something like this ready for when someone wants to try it. Adding the small change now though, because that was the only balancing thing my friends (who are more knowledgable of the game than I am.
- Two things. First, sign your comments with a '~~~~' at the end of your message. Secondly, I can recommend reading the 5e Race Design Guide and the Musicus Meter (5e Guideline). Even if you are not good at balancing by reading and understanding both the pages links you should be able to balance this page well enough to avoid its deletion. There is no specification given on what specifically is wrong with this race. "Some traits are poorly worded"? In what way? Everything is worded clearly and you don't specify what you're referring to. What is "too strong"? The breath attack originally was short rest because the damage was not going to increase. This seems reasonable considering an actual dragon's breath attack is a regular action to be used at will, and far more powerful. Really seems like you've just been slapping on deletion tags because you don't personally like things. Tazel Meyean
- This race has the features of two races, a +2/+2 optional ability score increase, and several bonus traits on top of that. The race does not follow Help:When to Italicize and Capitalize, the Draconic Heritage trait is not clear on the benefits it provides, regaining use of the Breath Weapon is improperly worded, see the dragonborn's Breath Weapon trait, and a few traits need minor wording fixes. Also, why would an evil draco-elf want to be an adventure, things like having a long lifespan automatically gives the race proficiency in History, and other issues. As a whole, this race is drab, has wording problems, and is broken.--Blobby383b (talk) 22:37, 12 February 2018 (MST)
- Needing a few fixes isn't a reason to delete a page. I normally only propose a deletion if a the page is bad enough that the whole thing needs rewriting. I'll have a look at doing the fixes. Marasmusine (talk) 09:53, 14 February 2018 (MST)
