Physical Description[edit]

Drell are similar in appearance and diet to asari and humans, though with a distinctly reptilian visage. Drell skin is covered in small scales, and their muscles are slightly denser. Drell hands have five fingers with a fused ring and middle finger, though certain drell undergo a surgical procedure to increase hand dexterity, though such procedures are known to cause major joint degradation in the last legs of a drell's life. Drell skin produces a mild poison capable of causing rashes after prolonged contact, and hallucinations with oral contact, occasionally served as part of a "Weeping Heart", a martini with drell poison. Similarly to other reptiles, drell have two sets of eyelids, with the inner lid being milky-white and closing from the left and right, while the outer lid is black and closes from top and bottom.

Sexual dimorphism among drell appears to be roughly analogous to humans. Females have breastlike protrusions, and their head "frills" are more pronounced than males'.

Due to the scarcity and distance of their ex-homeworld's resources, drell evolved an eidetic memory. Similar external stimulus can trigger memory recalls so powerful and precise, many drell may mistake them for reality.

History[edit]

Drell evolved on the rocky, desert planet Rakhana. In the 1380's CE, the drell began rapidly industrializing. With a booming population reaching eleven billion and an unobserved, massive decline in climate stability, the end was set from the start. In an event known as the Compact in the 1980's CE, the hanar made contact with the dying drell population. Over ten years, 375,000 drell were transported to the hanar homeworld of Kahje. Those that were rescued thrived alongside the hanar, accelerating their spread across the galaxy. Those that were not waged bloodier and bloodier wars for fewer and fewer resourced. Today, Rahkana is a tomb world, with a couple thousand drell living in migratory tribes of a few hundred.

Society[edit]

Little is known of the society of drell on Rakhana. Of the drell offworld, a great deal of debt is owed to the hanar. Drell are trained in skills the hanar are not significantly suitable for, primarily combat and assassination. While any drell can choose not to with little consequences, to serve is a great honor for any drell. On Kahje and other hanar colonies, drell are given every opportunity to excel, with quality income and respect, and open doors to every level of hanar culture, from operating directly below primarchs to establishing new hanar colonies. Even for servant drell, it is incredibly common for one to be held in such high regard to know their master's soul name. Despite this, many outsiders view drell as slaves, which many younger drell take offense to.
