Werebear (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Werebears in their human form looks just like normal people. They however have tendency to have beard. In hybrid form they are around 8 feet tall, they also have bear-like head.
Ursinthropy can be spread like a disease. Sometimes a ursinthrope begins life as a normal humanoid who subsequently contracts ursinthropy after being wounded by a ursinthrope. Such a creature is called an afflicted ursinthropy. Other ursinthrope are born as ursinthrope, and are known as natural ursinthrope.
A ursinthrope can either resist its curse or embrace it. By resisting the curse, a ursinthrope retains its normal alignment and personality while in humanoid form. It lives its life as it always has, burying deep the bestial urges raging inside it. However, when the full moon rises, the curse becomes too strong to resist, transforming the individual into its beast form. When the moon wanes, the beast within can be controlled once again, though those memories often haunt a ursinthrope as bloody dreams.
Werebears are normally lone wolves and have an unnatural ability to temper their aggressive nature. They go alone normally because they fear what might happen to others if they transform. They act as wardens of their territory and will protect plants and animals inside from others. Though they do avoid biting others to prevent their curse from spreading they will do it sometimes to chosen companions or apprentices. When this happens they will spend the time to help the new Werebear accept its curse.
Werebears do not normally change their names and keep names they were born with.
