Talk:Osmosian (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Hi, I'm currently working to make this a more complete and game friendly race. It started as a simple idea as I was attempting to make something for a friend that was accurate to the lore the race is based off of and fun/interesting to play in a 5e campaign. This is my first time trying to create a race or any substantive homebrew content for that matter, so if anyone with experience can offer assistance that would be much appreciated. I'm not too familiar with the publishing standards so I need help adjusting the initial design that I've posted to make it something that can work for campaigns it isn't tailored to. I have no clue how to add pictures and I'm having trouble adjusting the racial traits to be worded correctly and be more balanced. One of the stickers says less wordy/simplified, but the abilities are technical, so should I just cut out the fluff and only include the mechanical aspects of the traits?
- Stripping the fluff and focusing on trying to simplify the racial traits is a good start, you can always add it back in later. Normally traits have a sentence of fluff and then the mechanically relevant information afterwards so you should stick to that format. You can refer to the PHB, VGtM, MToF for the correct way to word things and there is also the 5e Race Design Guide particularly the Do's and Don't section that you'd benefit from reading. Good Luck. —ConcealedLight (talk) 19:13, 4 August 2019 (MDT)
