Development Talk[edit]

I guess. Just wanted a class that screamed "Defender"! You know. Plus, I wanted this warrior to be good or bad. The Ranger spells give it a fun taste too. --Jay Freedman 15:18, 14 September 2009 (MDT)

New Features:
  • Specialty Change: Weapon bonus or deflection bonus.
  • Healing Change: 25% healing as a swift action. Useful out of combat too.
  • Perception: Can make AoO's while in Total Defense and more reach.
  • Hope added: Fighting defensively now gives +2 AC, +2 Damage, and only a -2 to Attacks. Buffs allies too.
Still working on how to pass the SGT. Work in progress. --Jay Freedman 00:06, 15 September 2009 (MDT)
Combining is fun:
  • Ranger Spells
  • Bard's Good Hope
  • Paladins Courage and Smite
  • Monk's Saves
  • Fighters Bab and Hp
  • Barbarians DR
  • Just missing heavy spell-casting. Haha. --Jay Freedman 00:27, 15 September 2009 (MDT)
I freakin' love the pic for this article. Its rare for me to find a pic and design a class for it. But she deserves it. Also, I've reached a creative wall with this class. It could be awhile before it improves. Anyway, peace. --Jay Freedman 17:53, 15 September 2009 (MDT)
Changes, --Jay Freedman 22:59, 15 September 2009 (MDT)
  • Specialist: can take a Total Defense as a move action.
  • Perception: considered readied against any charge, overrun, or bull rush attempts
Changes, --Jay Freedman 12:26, 16 September 2009 (MDT)
  • Specialist: -4 to attacks during TD.
  • Cover: only take damage once from an area spell.
  • Perception: considered readied against any enemy movement.
Ok, so pretty much this puppy turned into a zone controller. Switch TD on and you own the ground around yourself. This should keep your threat level up as you use the cover ability. So the bad guys don't just ignore you as you buff your party with your mad skills. --Jay Freedman 17:28, 16 September 2009 (MDT)
Added a custom spell-list. Reworked Perception ability to Presence. Will format tables later. Peace. --Jay Freedman 18:53, 19 September 2009 (MDT)
Rewrote a number of the abilities to give increased reach. Nessessary for controling territory and keeping pace with reach creatures at higher levels. Also added Improved Uncanny Dodge at 12th. Might be too late to do any good though. --Jay Freedman 12:11, 21 September 2009 (MDT)

October Revisions[edit]

Dropped Specialist and Presence. Replaced with Taunt and Guardian Stance. This should make the class much more fluid.--Jay Freedman 19:47, 6 October 2009 (MDT)

  • Taunt: compel an enemy to attack you. Awesome to any defender.
  • Guardian Stance: a defensive stance that allows you to control territory. Let them try moving past and around you now.

Same Game Test Results[edit]

Totals: Win - 3 / Toss Up - 3 / Loss - 3. Which is pretty solid for an interdicting defender class I'd say. The test was conducted at Level 10. "Toss Up" means that the fight was 50/50 with no consistent winner. --Jay Freedman 19:56, 6 October 2009 (MDT)

Power - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it is very powerful. Stronger than most fighters anyway. It also scales well as you gain levels. It can protect party members and zone control at the same time. -- 12:03, 19 December 2009 (MST)

Wording - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because the abilities have many special rules and need lots of text to explain. Understanding is more than simple. -- 12:03, 19 December 2009 (MST)

Formatting - 3/5 I give this class a 3 out of 5 because missing parts of preload. What is present is covered well. -- 12:03, 19 December 2009 (MST)

Flavor - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because it has a viking feel to it which is unique. Still just an shield warrior in armor. -- 12:03, 19 December 2009 (MST)
