Talk:Blink Mage, Variant (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
Balance[edit]
Overall the current state of this class seems decently balanced to me from a a glance, but I have criticism for a few things that stand out:
- Even if it's a 18th level feature, adding a flat +6 bonus to your AC is pretty busted. Consider Bounded Accuracy (5e Guideline).
- At 9th level, a blink mage can pretty easily avoid any combat they want? It seems pretty gimmicky, and either useless or broken.
- Slayer seems much more powerful than the other subclasses, and alone might teeter this class into "overpowered" territory if I ran the numbers on it. So many of its features just add more damage.
- It's unclear exactly what "spell attack bonus" is in this context. If it's proficiency bonus + Intelligence modifier, that's quite a lot of damage to add to an attack one will be using so much.
- The amount of blink charges might benefit from tweaking, I think. It seems like at high levels they would likely become excessive well before they become "unlimited."
