Talk:Arcane Tank AND THIS ONE WORKS! (3.5e Optimized Character Build)
From D&D Wiki
Shield spell grants shield bonus to AC, so it's not stackable with tower shield. How You get 30 AC from this build with DEX 8? Abjurant Champion (Complete Mage I think) works great as tank - with 5 levels of this PC You get +9 from mage armor and +8 from shield spell (without any spell failure). Add something like blink spell, mirror images and items giving natural or/and deflection AC bonus and your mage will be really hard to hit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 188.8.131.52 (talk • contribs) 08:50, 10 August 2010 (UTC). - Actually abjurant champion doesn't do anything for mage armor. Its a Conjuration, not abjuuration. They mention it in the fluff, but nothing in the class abilities support it. --Name Violation 17:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
You can Boost AC further and free up a magic item slot with alter self. Starting at level 3 a wizard can take the shape of a troglodyte to gain a +6 Natural armor bonus for 10 minutes per caster level! It lasts way longer than most buffs at that level, stacks with armor and sheild AC, and even the pickiest DM's can't cry about it because It's core book material. Tieflings and Aasimars have even better options due to their outsider type, taking the form of an earth mephit for example gives +7 AC (6 natural armor, 1 size) and a fly speed of 40 for 10 min/lvl making this better than most level-3 spells and a total low level game breaker.--guest 02:57, 20 February 2011 (MST)
