Sunflower[edit]

For Solar Flare, basking the sun is where it's at. But watch out! With all that solar power, she'll bring a whole lot of bloom...and BOOM!”
—Dr. Zomboss

Physical Description[edit]

Sunflowers are in fact not actually normal sunflowers but instead they have been genetically modified Helianthus annuus, that has an organic visual processing system also known as eyes, a mouth, and a brain capable of synthesizing speech and singing, as well as understanding deep complex existential though of mortality. They do appear to have some sort of centralized nervous system capable of the sensation of touch. The real horror that we discovered was when the sunflower got up and walked out of the lab then his itself away. The other scholars have not seen it and nor have I for the past few years. But one last sight I cotaught of it it had grown from a 2 foot tall flower to a roughly 5 foot tall humanoid with similar coloration to the flower.

History[edit]

These "sunflowers" were made by some mad alchemist in the swamps or that is what I was told when I received this specimen from Neverwinter. The "flower" when I received it was half wilted but setting in in the sun lead to great results almost immediately bringing back from the brink of death. Then came the day when it got up and walked away and I never saw it again. Not too much can be gleaned from this but I have heard of rumors of these flowers populating the plains of the Sword Coast.

Society[edit]

The sunflowers seem to be generally kind hearted but they rarely interact with other races for reasons unknown to the Scholars of the Sword Coast. Sunflowers seem to follow a monarchical society of their own where the sunniest individual is usually crowned leader. They seem to spend most of their time lazing about and sun bathing in the open fields and when it gets dark they gather in the wooded areas a little away and make camp. The move nomadically every few days from place to place in a cycle lasting about 6 months out of the year. During the spring and summer they are most active while during fall and winter they move to a more southerly location to find warmer climates.

Sunflower Names[edit]

Their naiming scheme is generally some sort of pun or heliocentric phenomena or sometimes just light emiting object.
