Shield Hero[edit]

A woman runs towards the front lines of the battle's fray, wielding only a small metal shield. Dashing ahead of her allies, she calls out a phrase, triggering the shield to instantaneously morph into that of a massive steel round shield, catching the slashes of her enemies' swords. With a smirk, she pushes the blades away, leaving the thugs open for a strike from her allies.

A warrior screams as his shield changes form, letting rage take his mind over. Charging forward, he bashes the feral bugbear into the air, followed by a thick tongue of flames enveloping his target. With a dark, menacing aura flowing off him, he clenches a fist and summons an iron maiden torture device and traps the bugbear inside, its howls silencing after a blood curdling scream.

This class is based on the works titled "The Rising of the Shield Hero" by Aneko Yusagi.

Aggressive Protection[edit]

Shield Saints live to protect the meek and their allies. They get extremely aggressive when you hurt an ally or they fail to protect anyone. If this happens they can temporarily drop their defense to raise their offensive power.

Legendary Shield[edit]

Your shield is specially attuned to and cannot be removed from your arm without your consent. Additionally, if anyone steals it while you are not wearing it, then it will teleport back unto your arm.

The Shield and your bond with it allows it to grow with you. It can gain different traits based on items, actions, relationships, battles, etc.

Absorption[edit]

Beginning at first level the Legendary shield may only absorb tiny and small items. This increases to small and below at 5th level, medium and below at 10th, large and below at 14th, huge and below at 17th, and gargantuan and below at 20th. You are given different powers based one what you absorb, which can be enhanced by leveling up.

Ability Score Increase[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Change Shield[edit]

The Shield Hero can change out their shields form. The forms ability is mostly up to DM discretion, but at the bottom of the page there is a list of some forms. Also, each form can only be held for 5 minutes at 2nd level, 1 hour at 7th, and until concentration is broken (minimum 1 hour) at 13th.

Wrath[edit]

You have decided to let rage consume you, or you absorbed something from a inheritly evil creature or being. Your shield is now sentient with a Chaotic Evil alignment. It is constantly influencing you while in wrath form. While the shield is in Wrath form, you must make a wisdom or charisma check (DM discretion and DM decides Difficulty, I suggest DC 16). This check occurs every hour outside of battle with the shield out, and every turn in combat.

Fiery Protection

Beginning at 3rd level, when you gain his archetype, when you are attacked all creatures in a five foot radius must make a DC 15 Dex. save against taking 1d6 fire damage.

Wrath Fire

At 6th level, when you gain his archetype, you can shoot a 15 ft. long fire dragon. This is treated as a spell-like ability (see 3.5, it's basically a race/class feature that is a spell that they can use a certain amount of the time). It has: a casting time of 1 round, and is cast at the end of it; only somatic components; no concentration requirement; and a duration of instantaneous. As you are casting the spell, it absorbs all fire damage attacks (i.e. fire bolt, flame weapons fire dmg, and red/brass/gold dragon's breath attacks; but not the fire damage cause by lava per say) and add that to its own base damage, which is 1d12+your Saint of the Shield level. This ability can be used 3 times per Warth form.

Iron Maiden

Beginning at 9th level, you can summon an Iron Maiden around one opponent for 1d6 turns. While they are trapped in the Maiden they take 4d10 magical piercing dmg. This ability can only be used once per Wrath form.

Blood Sacrifice

At 12th level, You can offer up all the body in your body to summon a bear-trap snake-thing to attack you target. YYou loose all of current hit-points, and start making death-savingthrows, with one failure already calculated. The amount of damage done to the target equeals (the amount of hp lost)*2, this increases to *3 at 18th level.

Fiery Protection

At 15th level,

Fiery Protection

At 18th level, when you are attacked all creatures in a five foot radius must make a DC 15 Dex. save against taking 1d6 fire damage.

Hope[edit]

You have decided to hope in every thing, or you absorbed something from a inherently good creature or being. Your shield is now sentient with a Lawful Good. It is constantly influencing you while in Hope form(basically an Assimar's Deva). While the shield is in Hope form, you must make a wisdom or charisma check (DM discretion and DM decides Difficulty, I suggest DC 16). This check occurs every hour outside of battle with the shield out, and every turn in combat.
