After graduating the academy, Leaf shinobi officially become genin. They are separated into three-man teams overseen by one jonin. While Hidden Leaf shinobi typically manifest and train in Fire Style ninjutsu, Sand genin typically use Wind Style, Mist genin typically use Water Style, Stone genin typically use Earth Style, and Cloud genin typically use Lightning Style. Once a genin passes a multistage shinobi capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues, they ascend to the rank of Leaf chunin.
