This creature was created as part of the Player Equivalent CR variant rule using the Transmutation Alchemist (5e Class) class, and State Alchemist (5e Background) background, and as such does not follow traditional CR.

Transmutation. Isaac is an 11th level transmutation alchemist. His transmutation ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with transmutation attacks), and he has 32 alchemical stamina. Isaac knows the following Circles:

Small Circles: Alchemist Weapon, Mend, Whip, Manipulate Element

Medium Circles: Freeze, Evaporate (Tattoo)

Large Circles: Crumble Terrain

Marking Transmutation. When Isaac affects a creature with a Transmutation Circle, he may spend 2 Alchemical Stamina per creature to become aware of their direction and distance until they finish a short rest.

Blood Sacrifice. When Isaac uses a Transmutation Circle, he may spend hit pooints as if they were Alchemical Stamina.

Perfect Mending. When Isaac uses the Mend Transmutation Circle, the target regains regain an equal number of hit points as Alchemic Stamina spent, and Isaac does not need to provide additional flesh and bone.

Alchemical Study. When Isaac uses a Water element Transmutation Circle, he gains the following:

  • He may may add his proficiency modifier to its damage.
  • Its range is increases by 50%
  • Its duration increases by 50%

Combat Alchemy. When Isaac uses his action to do something other than to activate a Circle, me may activate a Circle up to Medium size as a bonus action. In addition, he can use his action to activate 2 Circles of Medium or smaller size.

Transmutation Tattoo. Circles labeled Tattoo have their Circle permanently on Isaac's body. Each time this Circle is used, he takes 5 (2d4) necrotic damage and ignores the base Alchemic Stamina cost of the transmutation. When he uses this Circle, he must roll 1d8. On a 1, the circle is destroyed, and can not be used again until the end of his next long rest. Isaac may immediately regain use when he uses Alchemic Recovery, but doing so negates the Alchemic Stamina regain.

Deadly Transmutation. When Isaac uses a Transmutation Circle, he may double its cost to double its damage.

Alchemic Recycling. After using the Circle as an action for 1.5x its cost, Isaac can reuse the same Transmutation Circle again as a Bonus Action.

ACTIONS

Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage.

Alchemical Recovery. As a bonus action, Isaac regains 5 Alchemic Stamina. He may use this once, regaining use of this feature at the end of a long rest.

Alchemic Meditation. Isaac meditates on one Circle. So long as he does not move, the total cost of the Circle is halved, the area of effect is indicated before it activates, and it activates at the end of his next turn.

Once a legendary state alchemist, Isaac "The Freezer" McDougal was traumatized by the atrocities he was forced to commit in the name of the Ishvalan Civil War. After resigning, he joined an anti-establishment movement against the country he serves, eventually uncovering at least a portion of the dark truth beneath Central Command, though he did not pass on this information before his death. Assaulting Central in a one-man crusade, though he did seek out the help of Solf J. Kimbley, he successfully battled the Elric brothers, only to be taken out by King Bradley himself.
