Essence Blade[edit]

You wield a deadly weapon forged with magic, backed by your skill at spells, stout armor, and keen fighting ability.

Class Traits
Role: Striker. By tapping into the magic that flows through your blood combined with raw emotion you unleash devastating attacks
Power Source: Arcane.
Key Abilities: Charisma, Dexterity, Intelligence
Armor Proficiencies: Cloth, Leather, Hide, Chain
Weapon Proficiencies: Simple melee, Military melee, Simple ranged
Implements: Rods, Wands, "Daggers if allowed by DM"
Bonus to Defense: +1 to Fortitude and +1 to Will
Hit Points at 1st Level: 12 + Constitution modifier + Constitution score
Hit Points per Level Gained: 5 hit points per level
Healing Surges per Day: 6 + constitution modifier + Constitution modifier
Trained Skills: From the class skills list below, choose 4 trained skills at level 1 trained skills at 1st level.

Essence Blade Hexblades are strikers that focus on attacking and neutralizing enemies one at a time but in times of fighting multiple they can use their magic to unleash waves of energy to attack multiple opponents. They tend to be a little emotional and suffer erratic mood swings from time to time.

Essence Blade Overview

Characteristics: Essence Blades tend to be a little more emotional due to the training needed to use their powers. It is common that they may be angrier in a fight as it is easier for them to draw on the magic in their bodies in that state
Religion: A Essence Blade can worship any deity but the Minkelth who use this power will commonly worship Mystra as she is the one who blessed them with a fraction of her magic.
Races: The Minkelth are the original Essence Blades as they use the magic given to them by Mystra to fuel their attacks but other races are capable of recreating this magic just as a sorcerer can or a spell scarred character due to the magic that is infused within their bodies.

Creating a Essence Blade[edit]

Ability Scores

As an Essence blade your primary score should be Charisma as this is what affects your ability to attack your Hexblade powers. Dexterity or Intelligence should be a close second sue to the fact that these both have an impact on what your attacks effects and your Hexblade damage bonus. Since you will unleash a majority of your attacks in close combat constitution is a good third choice as it will give you more hit points.

Feats

A suggested feat for the Essence blade if your using a rod would be rod expertise as it will allow you to get a shield bonus for using a rod. If your DM allows you to use a dagger as an implement without having the pactblade than Two weapon fighting or Two weapon defense would be good choices as it would let you inflict extra damage or get a bonus to AC.

Equipment

As a Essence Blade you will not need to buy a weapon as you will summon your own you will however need to buy an implement so you can use your weapon. You will generally be getting light armor as Dexterity or Intelligence will be your secondary score and you can generally avoid most blows without being encumbered by heavy armor.

Level 1: Eldritch Bolt[edit]

Level 1: Essence Blade Reward[edit]

Your ability to manipulate the magics in your body are astounding to say the least. They will cause your attacks to rend your opponents asunder and quickly strike down those who stand before you.

Benefit: You gain a bonus to damage rolls equal to your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier. (Only one of them not both)

Level 1: Essence Blade Weapon[edit]

The Blade of Reflective soul is a window to ones own essence it itself doesn't have a physical form but when combined with raw emotion the blade becomes a visible beam of light that is capable of slicing just as well as the sharpest of swords. The shape and color of the blade are completely dependent on the wielder when they are angry the blade becomes jagged and burns a fiery red if they are happy the blade become a crescent shape and take on a purple hue. The sword it self is about the length of a short sword. Those who see it can easily mistaken it for a thin beam of light but it becomes to clear what it is when it is used. The sword is not crafted from a material of any kind and is just the by product the wielders power the hilt however takes on the appearance of pearl that is shaped into the hilt of a sword.

Benefit: You gain the Blade of Reflective Soul weapon

This sword seems to reflect your very essence. Its colors and appearance alter to match your emotions.

Level 1: Essence Blade Boon[edit]

Unlike other warlocks who have to get their powers from an outside source you use your own inner magic to fuel your powers. You can call upon this magic to help revitalize you and seal your injuries Benefit: You can use Essence Restortion

Benefit: You gain two of the following powers.

As your blade tears into your foe it ripples digging in deeper you are stricken with sudden rage causing the blade to release a blast of energy at another foe or to dig even deeper into its target

Requirement: You must be using the Blade of Reflective Soul
Target: One creature
Attack: Charisma Vs. AC
Hit: 1[W]+ Charisma modifier force damage and one creature within 2 squares can take force damage equal to your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier. If no creature is targeted the original target take 2 extra damage. Lv21: 2[W]+ Charisma modifier force damage and the secondary target takes 2+ Dexterity or Intelligence modifier if no secondary target is selected the original target takes 4 extra damage
Special: This power is a Basic Melee attack

Level 1: Encounter Powers[edit]

Benefit: You gain the following power.

Echoing Slash Warlock Racial Power
As you lay your blow into your enemy both you and your blade unleashes an echoing wail that lays waste to all in its path

Attack: Charisma Vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + Charisma modifier force damage. Your blade unleashes a blast of sound radius of 3 including the target dealing Thunder

damage to all enemies besides the original target equal to the damage of your Essence Blade reward Level 13: 3[W] + Charisma modifier force. Level 23: 4[W] + Charisma modifier force.

Level 3:Improved Essence Blade Weapon[edit]

As you gain experience with your Blade it becomes nothing more than an extension of your being.

Benefit:You gain one more use per encounter of the pact weapon encounter attack power that you gained at 1st level, but you can still use it only once per turn.

Level 4: Ability Score Increase[edit]

Your constant training hones your body and mind.
Benefit: You increase two ability scores of your choice by 1.

Level 4:Lesser Planar Ally[edit]

Benefit: You gain the lesser planar ally seen in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdom

Level 5:Daily Power[edit]

Benefit: You gain 1 daily power entitled to the Hexblade as seen in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdom "Will update when i can think of one if anyone has ideas please let me know"

Level 6: Utility Power[edit]

As you become accustomed to using your magic, the powers you bear offer more possibilities for you to use against your enemies.

Benefit: You gain a utility power entitled to the Hexblade as seen in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdom "Will update when i can think of one if anyone has ideas please let me know"

Level 7:Essence Blade Retribution[edit]

Benefit: The magic in your body manifests an ability to drive attacker away from you while the force leaves them battered and bruised

Essence Surge Warlock Racial Power
The magic in your body instinctively reacts to your attacker causing a blast of energy to burst forth and knock them away leaving them bruised.

Immediate Reaction Melee Weapon
Trigger: A creature attacks you
Requirement: You must be holding the Blade of Reflective Soul
Target: The attacking creature
Effect: The target takes 5 + your Charisma modifier force and thunder damage, and you push it a number of squares equal to your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier.

Level 17: 10 + your Charisma modifier force and thunder damage.

Level 27: 15 + your Charisma modifier force and thunder damage.


Level 8: Ability Score Increase[edit]

You reap the reward of constant challenge by increasing your physical and mental well-being.
Benefit: You increase two ability scores of your choice by 1.

Level 9:Summon Warlock Ally[edit]

You learn how to impart a fragment of your essence to create a near exact replica of yourself to stand by and fight by your side. It will fight in your stead while you prepare yourself for your next attack. Those who witness this just see a bright flash as a Pale copy of you forms next to you its eyes are orb of white and its body is somewhat pale. It can talk and make any action that you can make but you must spend actions for it to do so. You fear not of its destruction knowing it will rejoin you after its time is done

Benefit: You can use summon warlock's ally to summon a Fragmented Essence of yourself

Fragmented Essence (Summoned Creature) Size of user elemental humanoid (appears as same race as user)

HP: Your bloodied value.

Healing Surges: None, but you may spend a healing surge for the Fragmented Essence if an effect allows it to spend one.

Defenses: The same as yours, not including any temporary bonuses. Speed: 6.

Guidance of the Soul • Aura 2 You gain a +1 power bonus to attack rolls while in the aura.

[m] Standard Action (poison) • At-Will Attack: Melee 1 (one creature); your level +5 vs. Fortitude. Hit: 1d8 + your Charisma modifier force damage, and the target pushed 1 square

Minor Action • At-Will (1/round) Effect: The Fragmented Essence walks, shifts, runs, stands, squeezes, or crawls.

[r] Opportunity Action • At-Will Trigger: An enemy within 5 squares of the Fragmented Essence hits you with an attack. Attack: Ranged 5 (triggering enemy); your level + 5 vs. Reflex. Hit: 1d10 force damage
