What are some ways I can turn video game things into playable/usuable D&D things?[edit]

I have a few examples:

Yoshi (Super Mario World):

Could this possibly be a monster and/or PC?

PC is probably a stretch, although you could give it a level adjustment for players who wanted to go that route. As far as creating it, of course you can, just use the template(s) provided by the site and let the creative juices flow. Borrow someone else's tables (and credit them) if you find anything inadequate. Oh, and add the copyright disclaimer, too, just to be safe. -- Jota 22:34, 15 January 2009 (MST)

Materia (Final Fantasy 7):

What would this be? How would it be used?

Materia may actually already have an example on here, but in my mind I would see Materia as either portable player enhancements (like ioun stones), or perhaps in the case of summoning or magic materia, enchanted gemstones (like a Gem of Seeing) would be my direction, or something like a Staff of Fire but condensed into a crystal. -- Jota 22:34, 15 January 2009 (MST)

Already exists, sort of...[edit]

Materia

You can go off what I said, in your own direction, or try to build on what already exists on that page. Good luck. -- Jota 22:35, 15 January 2009 (MST)

I'd tried my hand at making a Yoshi-esque PC with good results. The players in my campaign seem to like the idea.

What I've done I can't show yet... I don't know how to submit things other than discussions on this site.
