The game system (this) I am currently working on would benefit greatly from a unique creature template, and I really enjoy the layout of 5e's, but as things are I can't make heads or tails of it enough to retrofit it to suit my needs. I figured I'd put a discussion here in hopes that someone can point out how to achieve the following:
- Nixing AC, Armor, type, swarm, senses, CR, XP, legendary actions (not used in system, should be easy enough).
- Adding a section to generate name when needed (will expand on later, something along the lines of |name=, possibly |pronoun= as well)
- Renaming Ability Scores (called Features in game), and having them laid out as follows, with left Features only going up to 3 digits while the right can ride off into the distance (would also be convenient if SIG, STR SEN, SPD, SOL, and STU answered to both |sig= and |wis=, |str=, |int=, |dex=, |cha=, and |con=):
SIG | STR |
### | ############ |
SEN | SPD |
### | ############ |
SOL | STU |
### | ############ |
- Yes/No or blank feature options in addition to actions (i.e. |ki wave=yes becomes "Some text (Name from 2nd bullet) more text (pronoun) more text (relevant Features for technique) end of text".
- HP auto-generating by doubling Sturdiness (STU (Basically Con)) and Ki points auto-generating by equaling highest right-side feature, but only if it's possible to have a multiplier that does not effect them (i.e. a creature with a |stu=100 being its highest Feature has 200 hp and 100 ki even though it has a |mult=10 which changes its STU on the actual page to 1000).
- Renaming speed to distance.
- Rerouting all links to here except for bullets 3,4, and 5 which go here.
I hate being the guy who asks for random help on the internet, but I honestly can't make sense of the 5e creature template, and this would go a very long way toward making this game. Even the slightest bit of help would be greatly appreciated. --Ref3rence (talk) 09:15, 24 August 2020 (MDT)
