Keen Hearing and Smell. The dog has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Unwavering Loyalty. The dog will always follow the commands of an NPC that they have a positive relationship with (i.e. the dog's owner).

Magic Mutt. Perhaps there's something to this devil dog business? You gain resistance to necrotic damage but also gain vulnerability to radiant damage.

Contract of the Soul. The contractor of this familiar is able to summon it twice per day without use of mana/spell slots, however, when summoned this way, it does not heal after being de-summoned until mana is used to re-summon it.

Hell Hound. There is almost definitely something to the devil dog business. You are able to use your fierce appearance to gain advantage on any one Intimidation check. You must complete a short or long rest to regain use of this feature.

Innate Spellcasting. The drow's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 11). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: dancing lights 1/day each: darkness

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the blackhound has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

ACTIONS

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (2d4 + 1) piercing damage.

Bark. The dog uses a bonus action to have a creature within 15 of it make a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of the dog’s next turn. The targeted creature(s) must be capable of hearing in order for this condition to take effect. Creatures affected by the Unwavering Loyalty trait automatically succeed this saving throw.


Dogs are domesticated versions of wolves found in the wild. They are often called "man's best friend" due to their loyalty, which rivals many humanoids. They will always follow the orders of those that take care of them, and they are great companions to have for emotional support. They are usually kept as pets by humanoids and easily lift the spirits of those around them. Another key aspect of dogs is their diversity, as there are hundreds of breeds of dogs living in the Material Plane. The most popular tend to be large dogs used for hunting.
