Talk:Asera (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Quick Look At The Race
Currently, the race needs some work, as the lore, credit to the image's creator, and info on the height and weight of the race is missing. Besides that though, the race's traits are nearing completion and look pretty solid overall. The only trait that currently needs work is Love of Learning as it is far too powerful/has other problems. Mostly, the trait is simply too powerful as gaining double proficiency in a single tool or skill is an amazing trait by itself and Love of Learning allows you to gain that effect multiple times. Also, usually traits only scale up until 5th level. Perhaps the trait can be changed to either give double proficiency in a single tool or skill or proficiency in two different skills/tools(ie one at 1st level which doesn't need to be mentioned and 3rd/5th).
As for other things, when you are using an image, make sure to provide a link to who created said image or at the very least mention who the creator is. You can see the alraune for a quick example.
That is it for now, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.--Blobby383b (talk) 15:24, 1 March 2021 (MST)
- I updated love of learning to be double proficiency at 1st level, anything else I can do stat-wise? And is the base walking speed too high as well? Bowler1234 (talk) 17:17, 1 March 2021 (MST)
- The amount of spells is a bit more concerning, I believe. It should probably be just one for each spell level. Removing that would probably leave the thing balanced enough, just needs fluff afterwards. --SwankyPants (talk) 17:21, 1 March 2021 (MST)
- Fixed the innate spellcasting. Now, what would you say the Asera look like? I think they look almost fox-like in nature, but I want a second opinion before I start writing. Bowler1234 (talk) 19:20, 1 March 2021 (MST)
- How do I get subraces? I think I'll make love of learning a subrace trait and maybe something along the lines of Tabaxi claws as another subrace. Bowler1234 (talk) 06:48, 3 March 2021 (MST)
- Well, looking at the race, adding more through subraces seems kinda iffy, although some of it could be split into a different subrace. You want “|subrace=(flavour test about subraces), choose between the X, Y, or Z subraces.”, and then subraces use the a different preload, which you then fill out like it were a normal race. --SwankyPants (talk) 06:57, 3 March 2021 (MST)
- Well, then I just need to do flavor if a subrace would be too much? Bowler1234 (talk) 15:29, 3 March 2021 (MST)

- How about three subraces: Movement, claws, and innate spellcasting. I think that might lessen the load on each trait being one too many.Bowler1234 (talk) 19:39, 4 March 2021 (MST)
