Troll, Giant (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Troll, Giant
“ | They say we trolls have no connection to the All-Father Annam. But do we not have the blood of giants? | ” |
Physical Description
By BrianFP |
Giant trolls look like normal trolls, but no longer with deceptively thin bodies. Their true strength is apparent in their stocky, muscular stature and they are very tall. The rubbery skin normal to trolls is instead hardened to that of a frost or hill giant. They retain the hunch typical in trolls, as well as a bestial face with extruded nostrils for enhanced olfactory senses. Due to the increased density of their bodies compared to normal trolls, their regeneration is much slower than a normal trolls. Their bodies are usually marked with tribalistic tattoos to honor giant culture.
History
These trolls call themselves true trolls. They differentiate themselves from the more primitive predators which roam the wilds of Faerun, as they truly claim their heritage to descend from Annam All-Father, the progenitor of giants and giant-kin. According to their legends, they are a race born of Annam's last son, Hartkiller. It is unclear if their account is correct, as there is no record of Hartkiller having a child. There are claims that giant trolls came about as a result of Brun actually having lain with a normal troll, thus resulting in giant trolls. They spurn the myth of trolls being born by affair between Othea and Vaprak.
Society
Like other trolls, the mountain trolls live in groups with around 3-12 full grown adults. They are all shamanistic, however, not just their trollop leader. Also, their trollop leader is male instead of female. Unlike the usual troll behavior being obsessed with finding prey and hunting wantonly, giant trolls respected their surroundings so as to not destroy its resources. They view the world as one created by the strength of great predecessors and so it is not to be exploited. Their Giant tongue is believed to be more eloquent than their trollspeak.
Troll Names
Troll names are still traditionally trollspeak, with tones of ogre and garbled speech. However, they take on family names from Giants that are supposedly blessed by their trollop leader in the name of the All-Father.
