Soratami

“Wisdom is not the counting of all the drops in a waterfall. Wisdom is learning why the water seeks the earth.”

-Counsel of the Soratami

Design Note: This race is a adaption of Magic the Gathering's Moonfolk race of Kamigawa. I did not make the Moonfolk race, just this adaption.

Soratami, also known as moonfolk, are a slim, humanoid race, with a stature similar to that of an elf. They have white or off-white skin, usually a very light blue or bluish-grey. They have long flowing hair, the color the same as their skin, which is commonly tied up in elaborate hairstyles. Soratami come with one distinct feature; their two long, rabbit-like ears which fall down to their shoulders. They typically have some sort of ornate markings on their face (usually extending from the forehead), and ears. Some Soratami even have these markings along their body. They usually wear long, flowing, kimono-esque gowns that seem to float around them, enhancing their elegance.

History

No-one truly really knows where the Soratami came from, their secretive and isolationist nature sees to that. However, there have been stories and rumors; some claim they came from the moon, others claim that some human made an oath to the deity of the moon. Regardless, Soratami are seldom seen and when they are, it is not for long, as they seldom venture away from their cloud-top palaces. They say that they have been up there, gathering and keeping knowledge and information about the world and that maybe they even harbor secrets that have been lost to everyone else. However, all people agree that they only serve themselves and their people. One thing to think about when playing a Soratami, is why you have come down to the surface, and this could be for multiple reasons.

Society

Soratami are a close-knit, isolationist society, who live in towns and palaces in the clouds. These homesteads wander around the realm and finding one is quite rare. They care deeply about their families and their people, and most decisions they make are for the betterment of themselves, thus they can be very selfish and arrogant at times. Soratami who leave their lofty homes return quickly least their home drifts away without them. Soratami pride on their knowledge and intellect, however, many can be capable and dextrous warriors in combat. Many Soratami are proficient in the magical arts, the most powerful can even glimpse the future.

When playing a Soratami, take into consideration your enigmatic and mysterious nature. For many people it will be their first time seeing a Soratami, however, the people that know of Soratami will find it hard to trust you and your self-serving race.

It is at the DM’s behest to say how rare the Soratami are and how many times a Soratami city passes above, however, when they do, they are said to bring clouds and rain. You can ask permission to enter the city. But it will take much convincing to allow people from other races to enter.

Soratami Names

Due to their isolated nature, Soratami do not usually have names from other races. Here are some common Soratami names:
