== Submitted for Your Approval ==

I present the new [[Form:DnD Spell|form for submitting (non-epic) spells]], Courtesy of Semantic MediaWiki and Semantic Forms. [[Special:EditData/Form:DnD_Spell/User:Sledged/Atonement|Here]]'s what it looks like with the fields populated. —[[User:Sledged|Sledged]] ([[User talk:Sledged|talk]]) 15:30, 5 March 2008 (MST)

:Hm... I wish you could make it work more like [[Form:Rating]] where it uses a template which, once saved, goes to the normal wiki formatting. Can this be done with spells as well? It's just that I do not really want the formatting of all the spells changed to this new "standard". --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 20:18, 5 March 2008 (MST)

::If that is what is wanted all you have to do is add <nowiki>subst:</nowiki> in the form code next to any templates you want to be substituted onto the page. --[[User:Hawk|Hawk]] 20:33, 5 March 2008 (MST)

:::Just be aware that if subst: is added, you'll lose the option of using the form to edit the page once it's been created. —[[User:Sledged|Sledged]] ([[User talk:Sledged|talk]]) 11:21, 6 March 2008 (MST)

::::It is a price I would be willing to pay. --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 13:44, 6 March 2008 (MST)

:::::Okay, there's a problem with subst:. Part of the way to form works is that it looks at the template to see what properties it has and which parameters are associated with each property. When you use subst:, it's looking for the page Template:subst:template name instead of Template:template name and it makes the form useless as a result. —[[User:Sledged|Sledged]] ([[User talk:Sledged|talk]]) 14:37, 6 March 2008 (MST)
== Wiki Criticism ==

This is the most useless Wiki I have ever found on D&D. I'm sick of homebrew rubbish. I'm trying to find info on Mask and Olidamarra (spelling?) and I can't find anything good) {{unsigned| 68.193.215.240}}

:Admittedly, this probably isn't the best wiki to go to for official WotC material, but that doesn't make it useless. What's wrong with homebrew? WotC seems to encourage it, and the only real difference between good homebrew and published material is that the former is sold in books. --[[User:Daniel Draco|Daniel Draco]] 05:40, 14 April 2008 (MDT)

::We are not allowed to have information about Gods and Goddesses on D&D Wiki. They are reserved as product identity. Sorry about that. --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 21:27, 14 April 2008 (MDT)

:::Should be in [[Deities and Demigods]], no? If you want even more information than that, you're likely looking into some very specific Forgotten Realms books. --[[User:Sulacu|Sulacu]] 18:51, 20 April 2008 (MDT)

::::Boy, I thought I was pushy and opinionated. This site rocks for people like us who want to post and discuss shit. What else could you want? So you want Wizards information? So what! They want your money! Give them money or shut up and start writing. That's just my opinion of this issue.
== WotC Website Material ==

It occurred to me as I was answering a question about what material we have on the site...would we be able to host material from the wizards site? [http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/psi The Mind's Eye], for instance, has some interesting things, and I would love to see things like it on the wiki. --[[User:Daniel Draco|Daniel Draco]] 19:16, 18 April 2008 (MDT)

:Hm... Can we http://ww2.wizards.com/Company/Default.aspx?doc=SiteLegalNotice? --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 14:19, 19 April 2008 (MDT)

::According to section 2, "You are granted a limited, non-sublicenseable license to ''access'' and use the Site and ''electronically copy'' (except where specified as prohibited) and ''print to hard copy portions'' of Site Content for your ''personal'', noncommercial use only; provided, that you preserve any copyright, trademark or other similar notices contained in or associated with such Site Content. Such license is subject to these TOU and does not include: [...] (ii) the collection and use of any product or service listings, pictures or descriptions; '''(iii) the distribution (electronic or otherwise), public performance, or public display of any Site Content;''' [...] downloading (other than the page caching) of any portion of the Site, any Site Content or any information contained therein, except as expressly permitted on the Site; [...]"
::In other words, I think not. Hosting anything more than links here violates the spirit of the first, italicized part (my emphasis) and also several of the explicit prohibitions (especially the bolded one, also my emphasis added). So... probably not. And WotC has a history of taking a very hard line against IP infringement, copyright suits, etc. —[[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] 14:33, 19 April 2008 (MDT)
:::Well once you sift through a little legal phrasing, that's pretty clear...their terms of use explicitly forbid it, since a wiki definately counts as public display. Oh well ''':/'''. --[[User:Daniel Draco|Daniel Draco]] 16:50, 19 April 2008 (MDT)

::::The shame is that this material will disappear. When I was documenting Wizard's past products, I found that many items had dropped off their site. They are poor caretakers of their own material. The academic in me want to preserve their own web content for their own good.--[[User:Dmilewski|Dmilewski]] 18:10, 19 April 2008 (MDT)
== 4th Edition Link ==

I've had a thought; I think we could, and probably should, put the link to the 4th edition homebrew (and possibly the SRD, though we can't put it up yet, for obvious reasons) on the main page, because, as people in ENworld have proved, we have enough preveiw material from the PHB Lite (derived from the pregenerated characters and rogue preview) to make some powers, the 1st level for classes, and odd things here-and-there. As ENworld is already doing odd bits of 4e homebrew based on previews, we might as well provide a place for it to go now, rather than later.

Also, my gaming group has started a 4e campaign with the Pre-Generated characters, and everything is ''so'' much more better than 3.5. The fighter felt more like a fighter than in 3.5. --[[User:Sam Kay|Sam Kay]] 12:26, 26 April 2008 (MDT)

:Although as the deadline is drawing nearer and nearer I am leaning towards using the same revised 3e pages and just changing the identifier/creating a namespace for them. The voting (please see above discussion) outlined that the community would prefer that we distinguish 4e from 3.5e with just namespaces and categories. I know you have spent a lot of time on the 4e pages, however do we really need them? Is there any way we could utilize the current pages with 4e? Thoughts? --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 00:16, 5 May 2008 (MDT)

::Won't be playing 4e for quite a while. Checkbook ain't so hot right now. So I would personally prefer keeping a 3e section and a seperate 4e section. --[[User:Calidore Chase|Calidore Chase]] 08:13, 7 May 2008 (MDT)

:::I don't think it would be possible anyway. I think it would be easier and less confusing to keep them seperate... --[[User:Sam Kay|Sam Kay]] 08:23, 7 May 2008 (MDT)

::::I have had a look over the [[4e Homebrew]] page and checked it, and I think it is as ready as it can be before 4e comes out; we just need a preload for classes and dragons and we're fine (not enough info right now!); so as it's two weeks this friday I feel that we should put up the link for the 4th edition homebrew (but not the SRD!) ''now'' for the reasons I stated above. I don't think that we could combine the 3e and 4e sections, and I feel that it would be easier to use if they where seperate. --[[User:Sam Kay|Sam Kay]] 11:57, 21 May 2008 (MDT)
== Random Link ==

Would it be possible to add a random link to the navigation links too the side? This will allow for a more rounded out site over all. Eg. people are able to fix and contribute to content that they may not normally get to see. This will also allow DM's to make more interesting characters. --[[User:Sabre070|Sabre070]] 00:21, 6 May 2008 (MDT)

:I like the idea of a random page link too. Course there is one in the special pages link on the side and you could add one to your user page (as I have). --[[User:Calidore Chase|Calidore Chase]] 08:09, 7 May 2008 (MDT)
== WYSIWYG extension ==

I was thinking about how we want our users to have an easier time to post homebrew content. Then I realized that I spend a lot of time formatting tables and such. With a lot of website installations I do, I use Joomla, which comes with a built-in WYSIWYG editor. Well I did some research and apparently there is a good one for mediawiki. Take a look at [http://mediawiki.fckeditor.net/ http://mediawiki.fckeditor.net/]. I think this would be a sweet component to install -- for both new and experienced users. If there is a way to configure on your user profiler which editor to use, that would be even better (I'm not sure about that yet). --[[User:Aarnott|Aarnott]] 10:34, 20 June 2008 (MDT)

:::One big problem is that they continue to garner support from people on the WotC D&D Forums. That is getting them to publish their Homebrew stuff on their site, while I find most users there do not even know we exist. It might be smart to more actively promote our Wiki among the Homebrewers there and try to solicate their content. Also ENworld seems to be pickier about submissions being completed within a timely fashion, and that they are grammatically correct with proper spelling. This may be something we should pay closer attention to; eliminating entries that have sat uncompleted for months on end, or ones that are painful to read because of grammer and/or spelling. -- [[User:Sepsis|Sepsis]] 15:42, 15 September 2008 (MDT)
== Moving to new MediaWiki version ==

Hello all! I have not been keeping up as well as I should have on updating D&D Wiki, and have decided that we should get back on schedule. I went through all of the extensions and updated all of them that I could, and would really appreciate if people could go through a version of the site with the new MediaWiki (and extensions) installed, and let me know of any problems so they can be settled before I transfer over the site. The temporary site can be found at [http://test.kgprog.com/ test.kgprog.com]. If everyone would take a couple minutes and browse to the parts of D&D Wiki that are really complicated, and then post the findings here, that would be great!

Please note that right now MoI's and Search and not going to work. They are domain specific, and I feel that they will work on the new version. Everything else, however, I just blindly upgraded! — [[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] ([[User_talk:Blue Dragon|talk]]) 13:36, 28 October 2008 (MDT)
:A few things I just noticed on the spot. The categories look funny, and all the pages which use SMW things do not work (such as [[DnD Flaws]], [[DnD Traits]], [[DnD Sorcerer/Wizard Spells]], and the first part of [[DnD Optimized Character Builds]] (4e pages are the same problem, of course)). Also [[DnD Equipment]] looks funny, and all the sub-pages of it do not work, like [[User Mundane Weapons]]. Also a white loading page now shows up when adding a page through a form. Other then that though, as far as I can tell, it looks great. --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 13:40, 28 October 2008 (MDT)
== Downtime Today ==

Hello all. Today a water pipe broke and completely destroyed our router shutting down D&D Wiki for roughly 12 hours. I was not alerted to the problem until roughly 2:00 PM today, and it took several hours to get a new router for it and switch around the DNS. There will be some remaining problems throughout the week until a solid router can be used as a replacement. In the future I will make sure that there is not such a problematic single point of failure that can take the site down for such a long period of time, and I apologize for the lack of foresight in placing the router so close to a water line. Quite honestly, I didn't think that they randomly break. Strange.

The servers were not affected by this outage, so none of the data should be lost. Please let me know if there are any D&D Wiki specific errors which are occurring after this major outage.

Also, the fundraiser at the end of this year will be used to invest in second router to gain redundancy and try to ensure that if something similar occurs this will not be an issue.

Thank you all for your consideration, and I am sorry that this site has been so unreliable over the last few weeks. Reliability is now a much higher priority, and hopefully things should change after the new router. — [[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] ([[User_talk:Blue Dragon|talk]]) 21:23, 22 November 2008 (MST)
:As some of you might have noticed this last Wednesday we received a backup router. It has not had an issue since it was installed, and should be more than capable of handling D&D Wiki's traffic for years to come. It has also been strategically placed away from areas that would cause such a major outage. — [[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] ([[User_talk:Blue Dragon|talk]]) 09:36, 29 November 2008 (MST)
I had an idea, what if we created a page for people to register if there looking for groups and groups looking for people, we'd keep it to user names on the site for privacy. but they could register maybe what state there in, city perhaps, or country if there in europe or auistralia. that way people hwo are haveing trouble finding a group could have a good place to look. my only issue is privacy, but i think if we kept it on a user name basis on the site it would be fine. your thoughts?
:Admittedly, this probably isn't the best wiki to go to for official WotC material, but that doesn't make it useless. What's wrong with homebrew? WotC seems to encourage it, and the only real difference between good homebrew and published material is that the former is sold in books. --[[User:Daniel Draco|Daniel Draco]] 05:40, 14 April 2008 (MDT)
::In other words, I think not. Hosting anything more than links here violates the spirit of the first, italicized part (my emphasis) and also several of the explicit prohibitions (especially the bolded one, also my emphasis added). == 4th Edition Link ==

''now'' for the reasons I stated above. I don't think that we could combine the 3e and 4e sections, and I feel that it would be easier to use if they where seperate. --[[User:Sam Kay|Sam Kay]] 11:57, 21 May 2008 (MDT)
I was thinking about how we want our users to have an easier time to post homebrew content. Then I realized that I spend a lot of time formatting tables and such. Take a look at [http://mediawiki.fckeditor.net/ http://mediawiki.fckeditor.net/]. I think this would be a sweet component to install -- for both new and experienced users.

== Downtime Today ==

I was wondering if someone had or wanted to make a variant that fixes in my opinion one of the biggest flaws in D&D? Which is for example a Druid Elf has lived in the forest there whole life, why would they know all the common weapons? Why would they not know the elvish weapons(exotic)? if they are what they were raised with? they would not know all the "Common Weapons"? just wondering if any one had any Ideas or Opinions. --[[User:Gold Dragon|Gold Dragon]] 15:55, 26 February 2007 (MST)

:First, an elven druid only knows how to use the club, dagger, dart, quarterstaff, scimitar, sickle, shortspear, sling, and spear (from the druid class) and longsword, rapier, and long/shortbow (from elven heritage). The rationale for other classes, however, that learn an entire group (e.g. simple weapons, martial weapons, etc.) is that the weapons from the group all use similar tactical knowledge. After learning to use a longsword proficiently, for example, any character would easily be able to pick up a scimitar, short sword, handaxe, or halberd and pretty much know how to use it (the same basic principles of invitation, line closure, parrying and riposting, counterattacks, distance, and time all still apply). The same applies to simple weapons; with the requisite amount of training in a light crossbow, most characters would understand enough about combat to easily pick up and use a sap or mace. Some weapons are never intuitively understandable, and these require the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat. Further, any advanced training in a weapon (e.g. if your Elf Druid solely came into contact with rapiers and excellent in their study) is represented by the Weapon Focus feat, which indicates a deep level of understanding about how a certain type of weapon handles and a higher than average proficiency with it. I hope this rather lengthy answer adequately responds to your question.
:To recap, classes and races give you proficiency with weapon groups you have been exposed to (that use the same general martial principles). Some weapons are too odd to fit into these groups, and they require the Exotic Weapon proficiency. Advanced training in a specific weapon is represented by the Weapon Focus or Weapon Finesse feat.
Gold Dragonhttps://www.dandwiki.com/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Gold_Dragon&diff=82200User talk:Gold Dragon2007-02-26T22:47:27Z
Gold Dragon: Removing all content from page

While I feel somewhat guilty for nominating myself (which approaches an unappetizing egoism), I feel like it is the best course of action to continue with a project I have undertaken (i.e. [[D20 Modern]] in general and-- in particular-- categorizing, breaking down, and cross referencing the [[MSRD]]). I am applying primarily for two reasons: 1) to be recognized as a resource for new wikians and those with questions, and 2) to gain access to locked pages to continue worthwhile infrastructural edits. —[[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] 16:28, 25 February 2007 (MST)
:Candidates Prelude

;Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve D&D Wiki in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
:'''1.''' What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please read the page about [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators administrators] and the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_reading_list administrators' reading list] on Wikipedia before answering.
::'''A:''' I would like to delve into the organization of the MSRD, as well as continuing periodic additions of my own work, grammar and spelling changes to "professionalize" articles, anti-vandalism work, and especially continuing in the neverending process of helping others improve their creations (especially through the use of the [[Balance System]] for feedback).

:'''2.''' Of your articles or contributions to D&D Wiki, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
::'''A:''' I'm fond of one of my early additions, [[Religion (Anazar Supplement)]]. The 25 original deities were added when there were very few deities of DnD wiki, and I feel that my additions helped catalyze interest in the section, especially as our user numbers grew immensely and people realized that deity write-ups could be both simple and yet elegant and useful. Most especially, however, I'm proud of what I've done with [[Zokusho's Sword (DnD Quest)]]; the page had nearly no content when I adopted it, and I was able to construct a full (if rather bland, to be honest) adventure out of it. I think the adventure, while certainly one of the least imaginative I've written, is a good paradigm for the sorts of pages that could nicely adorn [[DnD Quests]].

:'''3.''' Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
::'''A:''' I can think of a couple of times in the past when I was responsible for the creation of undue stress or discord. This always occurred when I felt strongly about a change that needed to be made to balance or clarify a rule, ability, etc. So, in the interest of absolute honesty, I can think of two times when I was unnecessarily brusque and perhaps forceful (it is always necessary to keep in mind that contributions here are as much as for enjoyment and imaginative spark as they are an interpretation of the rules mechanic in a particular circumstance): I was unnecessarily forceful here (this wasen't even originally Cypresslyshra's page!) [[Talk:Good Quality Rations (DnD Equipment)]] and didn't explain myself well here (I basically just said that things were bad but did not offer suggestions, which I think is the most important part of improving communal material like things on this wiki) [[Talk:Silver Knight (DnD Prestige Class)]]. Perhaps worst is here, when I basically argued with Sledged about ''two'' different points, even though he was actually completely correct about both (skills and leadership) [[Talk:King Marak (DnD NPC)]].

:'''4. Optional question from Green Dragon:''' What will make you stay on D&D Wiki? For some reason many people after becoming Admins leave, [[User:Pz.Az.04Maus|Pz.Az.04Maus]], [[User:Calidore Chase|Calidore Chase]], and [[User:Xenophon|Xenophon]] are some good examples. I do not want this to happen to you as well, so why do you think you will stay and continue for a long time to come to help D&D Wiki? --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 17:51, 25 February 2007 (MST)
::'''A:''' First of all, I think Calidore should probably not be counted as inactive ( see: [http://www.dandwiki.com/w/index.php?target=Xenophon&title=Special%3AUserEdits his edit counts]). It's hard to say what might have made the other admins leave; I can only answer for myself. I have never viewed adminship as some goal that you achieve and then forget about; instead, it is about willingly taking on increased responsibility out of a love for the content, people, and goals of the wiki. It seems to me that anyone that understands what adminship really is would not simply walk away out of boredom; admins are the most dedicated and supportive members of the wiki (or ought to be). I can only point to my own record; I've been a member of the wiki since last august, and have contributed steadily throughout that time. There have been weeks where I am extremely busy, but even then I make time to browse through recent changes and review many of the posted items (and correct their formatting, spelling, and grammar). And I've always come back! I have waited for a long time before applying to be an admin, unlike Calidore and Xenophon (I have nearly 5 times as many edits as Xenophon does currently and many more than Calidore did before he became an admin (currently me 1073, CC 1217, X 384) and many times more than they did when they became admins. That alone already shows that I'm in this for the long haul. In the end, though, I think your question can only be answered by reference to personality types; some people flit from interest to interest, immersing themselves in one thing for several months and then moving on for a long time (though they often return). I am of the other personality type who discovers what I enjoy doing and immerse myself in it as a lifelong passion and hobby. DnD has been a hobby like this for me for many years, and this site is a great forum for sharing ideas and creativity in a game that is fundamentally about creativity, teamwork, and a close society of friends. Honestly, I can make no guarantees (no one ever can!), but-- just as I would not walk away from a group of friends in the physical world-- there is no reason to think that I would walk away from this one either.
:::Thank you, you gave me hope and re-affirmed what I was thinking about why some people stay and others leave. I trust you will stay. --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 19:20, 25 February 2007 (MST)
'''Support'''
* '''Support''' - [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] has been a great contributor to D&D Wiki so far, and I believe he will continue to be. I think that [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] may not know formatting as well as might be good, however his helpfulness makes up for that. [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] has helped many many Classes become what they are; as he knows D&D very well. I think [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] deserves to be an Admin so he can finish the D20M section and then continue to help improve on Classes, rating and replying to them. [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] will be a great help in bringing D&D Wiki's content up to the level of published material. [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] has deserved to be an Admin for quite some time now, and I look forward to him becoming one. --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 17:51, 25 February 2007 (MST)
* '''Support''' - [[User:EldritchNumen|EldritchNumen]] has helped clean up a lot of entries I have submitted. If I ask for a revision, 90% of the time, he will give a thoughtful and detailed reply in a short amount of time (the other 10%, someone beat him to it). I agree that he will help bring D&D Wiki to the level of published material. [[User:Aarnott|Aarnott]] 10:27, 26 February 2007 (MST)
The Guild of Hidden Archers is widely spread all through Faerun. Nobody knows the stealthy and deadly members of this secret liege. Their specialty is to sneak near an enemy, silent, and to kill him from a save distance.
They seem to be moving shadows, as sometimes not even an arrow is found in the corpses of their victims. In fact, they are linked to the shadows and use their abilities to form them as they wish.
==Class Features==

All of the following are the Hidden Archers Class features. They are only applicable while using a short bow.

'''Sneak Attack:''' As rogue's

'''Sniping (Ex):''' The Hidden Archer is used to step out of the shadows, shoot at a target precisely and then to re-conceal himself before he can be identified.
The Hidden Archer gets a bonus equal to the number behind to hide checks made while taking the "Sniping" action.

'''Arrow of Shadows (Sp):''' As the Hidden Archer is able to form shadows, he can create an arrow made of pure shadow, which is invisible for everyone except him, so the attack is inevadable.

The Hidden Archer forms such an arrow as a free action. The arrow is dealt like a sneak attack, even if a sneak attack wouldn't be possible. However, creatures being immune to sneak attacks (such as constructs) are also immune to the special forces of an Arrow of Shadows, nevertheless they are considered flat-footed. Against them it's treated like a normal arrow. The Arrow of Shadows has to be used within the next round, otherwise the arrow dilutes. The Hidden Archer can use his own shadow to form one, once per day for each 3 levels of Hidden Archer he possesses (so 1 on lvl 3, 2 on lvl 6 and 3 on lvl 9)

'''Seeking Arrow (Sp):''' Due to the familiarity with the shadow, the Hidden Archer can launch an arrow to a known target within range and the shadows lead the arrow to its aim.

The Hidden Archer once per day can launch such an arrow to a known target within range, as a standard action (shooting the arrow is part of the action). This attack negates cover or concealment modifiers, though the attack roll is rolled normally. The Hidden Archer can use the seeking arrow once per day for each 4 levels of Hidden Archer he possesses (1 on lvl 4, 2 on lvl 8)

'''Ranged Death Attack (Ex):''' Continuing his career as Sniper, the Hidden Archer knows the body well enough that he can fire an arrow to the deadliest spots.
The Hidden Archer has to observe his victim for 3 rounds before the attack. While studying the victim, the Hidden Archer can undertake other actions so long as his attention stays focused on the target and the target does not detect the Hidden Archer or recognize the Hidden Archer as an enemy. If the victim of such an attack fails a Fortitude save (DC 10 + the Hidden Archer's class level + Dex modifier) against the kill effect, she dies. If the saving throw fails against the paralysis effect, the victim is rendered helpless and unable to act for 1d6 rounds plus 1 round per level of the Hidden Archer. If the victim’s saving throw succeeds, the attack is just a normal sneak attack. Once the Hidden Archer has completed the 3 rounds of study, he must make the death attack within the next 3 rounds.

If a death attack is attempted and fails (the victim makes her save) or if the assassin does not launch the attack within 3 rounds of completing the study, 3 new rounds of study are required before he can attempt another death attack.

'''Improved Critical (Ex):''' The Hidden Archer has come to a point at which his abilities using a bow have increased to such a level, that he can fire arrows with a deadly precision.

The threat range for short bows is increased by +1 (thus making 19-20 / x3). This ability does not stack with the Feat "Improved Critical".

'''Phasing Arrow (Sp):''' The Hidden Archer now can form an arrow out of the shadows, which is hardly consistent, though deadly. This arrow will pass every kind of material barrier.

The Hidden Archer can launch a Phasing Arrow as a standard action (shooting the arrow inclusive) once per day. The arrow will pass every non-magical barrier, thus negating bonuses from cover, concealment and even from armors and shields. A normal attack roll is necessary. For each 5 levels of Hidden Archer he can create one phasing arrow per day (so 1 on lvl 8 and 2 on lvl 10)

'''Hail of Arrows (Su):''' On the summit of his power, the Hidden Archer can now shoot many arrows in a cone, so he can hit different enemies, or bigger enemies even multiple times.

The Hidden Archer can, five times per day, put one his bow's string one single arrow and launch ten identical arrows in a 120° cone at the same time. This attack doesn't require any attack roll nor does it deal precision-based damage. Any enemy that doen't succeed on a ref save (DC = 10 + Dex Modifier + Class level)(since this is a jump, armor check penalty applies on the saving throw) gets hit by the volley. The number of arrows that the enemy gets hit by is the higher, the bigger the enemy is. Due to the shape of the attack, the area behind a hit person or object is not attacked but multiple foes can be hit by the same attack.

== Combining Categories ==

So, I was looking at all of the categories on many of the pages (especially the SRD ones), and was thinking... there's got to be a better way. Especially if the categories are just ignored in favor of manually typed and maintained lists. Does a particular article need to appear on every single category page from the highest level of the hierarchy on down? And with all the types in D&D, what if I want to see a list of just Humanoids which are Aquatic? Basically, the ability to combine categories to show only specific results. Or, even better, the ability to produce ''inline'' category article lists.

If any of the site owners want to take a look at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/DynamicPageList and discuss if you think installing this extension would be as helpful as I do ;) --[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 14:51, 20 July 2006 (MDT)

== DynamicPageList... ==

DynamicPageList has been installed for a very long time. I believe that it is good to have each item listed in several categories, from the top down. What you are talking about already exists with this current system. You would just have to go to Category:Humanoids, Aquatic or similar. I am not the owner of this site, but I believe that I am speaking for him as well. – I do not think, however, that I fully understand what you are talking about. If you want, try to explain what you are talking about to me so it is a little bit more clear. --[[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] 17:06, 20 July 2006 (MDT)
:(Goes to Sandbox) Ah, I see DynamicPageList is indeed installed. I was using the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/DynamicPageList2 DynamicPageList2] syntax ("DLP" vs. "DynamicPageList" for the tag.) I see that version 2 allows alphabetical sorting, however. Might be more useful than the current version for a site like this?

:Anyway, using the [[Emperor Sea Strider Nymph (DnD Monster)]] as an example, instead of having something like:

:*'''Categories: Dungeons and Dragons | DnD Monsters | DnD Creatures, Aberration | DnD User Creatures, Aberration | DnD Creatures, Small | DnD User Creatures, Small'''

:it might be easier to have the categories like so:

:*'''Categories: DnD | User | Creatures | Aberration | Small''' - and, since it's on the CR1 list, a '''[CR1]''' category could be easily added.

:Then, using DPL, all kinds of lists could be managed easier by simply selecting the appropriate combination of tags, without having to add items to lists manually. The creatures by CR are a perfect example of something that could be simplified this way. Adding tags themselves also becomes much simpler. I'm also thinking it might be easier to automagically add proper category tags via templates, which I'm just begininning to appreciate the versitility of. Also, by using the sandbox, users could create their own lists, if they wanted to see a combined list of DnD and Modern equipment, for example. (Oy, the equipment pages screams for this sort of simplified management.)

:Anyway, sorry for rambling, I'm really still a bit of a noob at the whole Wiki thing, and I'm just spouting ideas as they come to me. --[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 07:46, 21 July 2006 (MDT)

::I understand what you are saying now about using DynamicPageList. We should just wait until next Thursday until Green Dragon gets back, and he can make the authoritative decision. What you are saying makes sense, and it could clear things up quite a bit. However, the final decision should rest on GD. (It is fine to set up an example, however. You can do it on [[Emperor Sea Strider Nymph (DnD Monster)]]). --[[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] 11:13, 21 July 2006 (MDT)

:::{|style="line-height: 1.5em;"
|
====Example====
|-
|
I went ahead and used Sledged's [[Ogrillorc (DnD Monster)|Ogrillorc]], since it also includes a subtype. The category list for this creature is currently:
|-
|style="color:maroon;"|
:'''Dungeons and Dragons | DnD Monsters | DnD Creatures, Giant | DnD User Creatures, Giant | DnD Creatures, Orc | DnD User Creatures, Orc | DnD Creatures, Medium | DnD User Creatures, Medium'''
|-
|where I see something more like the following (which has been added):
|-
|style="color:maroon;"|
:'''DnD | User | Creatures | Giant | Orc | Medium'''
|-
|Then, the following DPL code was used:
|-
|

<DPL>
category=DnD
category=User
category=Giant
order=ascending
</DPL>

|-
|to generate a list of all User-created creatures with the Giant Type within the DnD portion of the Wiki. That list currently includes:
|-
|
:<DPL>
category=DnD
category=User
category=Giant
order=ascending
</DPL>
|}
:::It would take a bit of effort to modify existing categories for various pages, but hey, that's what Barnstars are for, right? ;) --[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 12:49, 21 July 2006 (MDT)

::::Oneiros, what you are doing is great. I am giving you the official go-ahead. I talked to Green Dragon on the phone, and he agrees with me. I will try to help, but I am currently caught up in something. When I get free time, I will help as well. Thank you! --[[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] 13:51, 21 July 2006 (MDT)

:::::Alrighty, then. I'm going to start back with Races, since I've gone through them before. I'm going to try and put together some sort of category hierarchy first and document it, so I can think this through and not just start updating willy-nilly.

:::::'''Update''' All LA0 races have been modified using the simpler category list. I've started work on a '''[[Oneiros/Categories|Category List/Hierarchy]]''' to keep things organized. User races, for example, would have '''DnD > User > Race > Type > Subtype > LA > ECL'''. An optional level is '''Group''' to help organize things, too.--[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 22:43, 23 July 2006 (MDT)
::::::Wow. OK. That changes everything for me. I was just starting to redo SRD monsters, and this DLP thing really just ... JFC! that's a nice feature. I now need to stop, look, and learn. Once I understand it, I need to redo the monsters and bot the rest of the SRD. I can start with the SRD races to better understand the feature, then work outward. Thanks for pointing this out. You've made my job both harder/easier.

I ported over the SRD races to your format. I am a full believer in the use of the wiki features for automation and organizing, and this way, though it takes lots of reorganizing, provides far more payoff. --[[User:Dmilewski|Dmilewski]] 10:10, 10 August 2006 (MDT)

What do you think about the new logo for D&D Wiki? How could it be improved to make it better? --[[User:Green Dragon|Green Dragon]] 16:51, 16 September 2006 (MDT)

:I like this one less than the old one. Scrunched. Poor use of the corner space. It is horizontal in a vertical space (the sidebar). The white space above and below it de-emphasize the logo. The fonts disagree with each other. One is narrow and ornate while the other is wide and bold. --[[User:Dmilewski|Dmilewski]] 17:36, 16 September 2006 (MDT)

::I have to agree on the whole horizontal/vertical thing.
::If it were slightly bigger, I wouldn't have a problem with the font differences. --[[User:Aramar the Black|Aramar the Black]]
:::I like it more than the old one, but both of these guys have a point. It's not the corner space thing that bugs me, it's the Fonts, and the Widescreen bars that do. Small logo, but something. --[[User:Pz.Az.04Maus|Pz.Az.04Maus]] 18:39, 16 September 2006 (MDT)

[[Image:Dndw_o.gif|right]]

::::If the word "Wiki" were spaced further down, that might help the "empty horizontal space" problem. But the D&D logo itself would still be a bit small. How about something like this:
::::--[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 23:44, 16 September 2006 (MDT)

:::::I like that image better, but it looks too off center. The on that's currently up, albeit small, still has its charms, even though it has a lot of visual weight on the bottom. --[[User:Hiryuu|Hiryuu]]

::::::I added Oneiros' version to the website, as I see that it is the best yet, but Green Dragon still has the final say. --[[User:Blue Dragon|Blue Dragon]] 09:18, 17 September 2006 (MDT)

::::::: Huh, now that I see it up there in the logo spot, it does look a little big and heavy. Possbily making it a bit of a dark grey instead of solid black might help, plus resizing just a bit. The balance problem Hiryuu mentioned could be solved with a heavier font for the word "Wiki"; I played around with a few before picking that one. --[[User:Oneiros|Oneiros]] 10:25, 17 September 2006 (MDT)
Wouldn't it be a good idea to give every user a talk page similar to yours? Also, it might be an idea to expand on writing tools, and perhaps give them a section in the DnDWiki. It was kind of a pain to copy your talk page and edit it (Though it was a good learning experience), and it might be more worthwhile to help people with making their talk pages a little more customized. Something small, but for the Users so that they can do some paintwork on their personal pages and write who had created what subject and such. We now have a short stub on Wikipedia detailing our site. You should tell someone to start working on it (I started it, but I don't feel up to the task of doing it.). The link is [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DnDWiki here].--[[User:Pz.Az.04Maus|Pz.Az.04Maus]] 02:37, 6 June 2006 (MDT)
Thanks for the FYI. Thanks for fixing some of the locks. Also, after some thought, <nowiki>{{OGL License|the System 3.5 Reference Document|SRD}}</nowiki> over-dominates the top of the SRD entries, and I'd like to move that tag to the bottom of the page. Yeah, we should write a fully descripted article... Also, I have noted that a group of people called the Dice Gamers want to become affiliates with us or something. Will do :D. Also, for now, i don't wish to bother with the pic for a little bit. I tried just moving it up, but I couldn't think of anything to replace the underneath area... Thus, I'd have to redo everything that I did to make the logo... Grah, but it's a can-do.--[[User:Pz.Az.04Maus|Pz.Az.04Maus]] 16:06, 6 June 2006 (MDT)
== New way For Talk Pages... ==

How about this, Instead of answering on other people's Talk Pages for lengthy discussions, we only do that when We expect simple, short answers, and no replies besides a "Thanks." For longer discussions that are on our Talk Pages, we write only in ours. That way, the big conversations are easily read for future reference. --[[User:Pz.Az.04Maus|Pz.Az.04Maus]] 19:05, 10 June 2006 (MDT)
I will be leaving on a vacation (LONG VACATION, about 1 and and a half months) Tuesday for Germany, and I was wondering if you could watch over the site while I was gone. Their will be many things you will have to do, and it will take a while. I will be able to check this site a couple times while I am in Germany, but not that often. So, here is what you, if you agree, will have to

# Check [[Special:Recentchanges|Recent Changes]], check '''every''' edit that is not by you or [[User:Dmilewski|Dmilewski]].
Argh, I am getting annoyed with some things you are doing. Please remember to make the "Back to" footer on '''everything''' you make, that is just something that REALLY annoys me if it is not their. Also, if you add races when I am gone '''please remember to add them to [[DnD Races]]''', I have not seen you add one yet and it is annoying me as well. I personally believe that the new logo makes the site appear DREADFUL because the logo does not match anything else on the entire website. Seeing that Green Dragon and Blue Dragon are gone i think it should be set back to it's orginal state in till they return so that they can make the website match the logo!
