Heritage Rebuke
2nd-level evocation
Casting time: 1 reaction, which you take in response to being damaged by a creature within 20 feet of you that you can see
Range: 20 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

You seem to burn to ash in an explosion of black flames, then reform from motes of shadow and flame elsewhere. The creature that damaged you must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 1d6 fire damage and 1d6 necrotic damage immediately, and 1d4 fire damage and 1d4 necrotic damage at the start of its next turn. On a successful save, the target takes half as much initial damage and no additional damage on its next turn.

When you cast this spell, you teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 20 feet. You can then make an Charisma (Intimidation) check against the target, with advantage if the target failed its Dexterity saving throw. On a success, the target is frightened by you until the end of its next turn, and cannot target you with attacks or harmful spells while frightened this way.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the initial fire damage and initial necrotic damage both increase by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd.
