Halfling Gnomes[edit]

These strange creatures are to gnomes what halflings are to humans; short. Halfling gnomes are smaller than regular gnomes, but have become extremely strong and tough to make up for this. They have a liking for precious materials such as gold and gemstones, and adore animals, often choosing to domesticate them.

Personality[edit]

Halfling Gnome personalities are a mix of the best, or worst, of Halflings and Gnomes. They are inquisitive, clever, witty, devious, and sneaky, but all in good fun. They are hospitable and trustworthy but protective of friends, family, and animals of all kinds. They prefer intrigue and subtlety to straightforward business, and they're always trying to tinker with things to see if there's a way to make it better. As such, most Halfling Gnomes tend to put their efforts into technology development.

Physical Description[edit]

Halfling Gnomes can be from about a foot and a half tall to almost three and a quarter. Their skin ranges anywhere from a light tan to a deep brown to dark green, while their hair and eye colour is accross the board. They have developed thick skin strong muscles and longer legs to combat their small size, but have retained their ancestor's intelligence and thirst for knowledge.

Relations[edit]

Halfling Gnomes interact well with most races, since they have probably encamped near one of their cities or towns before. For aggressive and violent races, they often prefer either to sneak by unnoticed and move on or to sneak in and cause some ruckus before leaving.

Alignment[edit]

Halfling Gnomes tend to be True Neutral or Neutral Good so as to deal more even-handedly with so many races. They have no tendency toward lawful or chaotic, and evil Halfling Gnomes are often banished from good tribes and left to travel alone or join an evil clan.

Lands[edit]

Halfling Gnomes travel so much they do not have a particular homeland. Those that settle down settle in already established towns, usually of Rock Gnomes where they are accepted as kin. No Halfling Gnome town has ever been known for sure to have been established, but there are rumors of large cities hidden deep within the forrests to the north and underground.

Religion[edit]

If Halfling Gnomes choose to be religious they will often prefer to worship Farlaghn or Olidammara over Garl Glittergold. More aggressive tribes may worship St. Cuthbert or Kord. Evil Tribes often worship Vecna or Hextor. Halfling Gnomes are often rather casually religious, and tend to conduct their prayers in secret, although they will join in masses and other communal religious activities.

Language[edit]

Due the to large amount of traveling and interaction with many races Halfling Gnomes experience, they speak many languages and pick up new languages quickly. They can speak common as well as the languages of their closest relatives (dwarves, gnomes, and halflings).

Names[edit]

Names are acquired in the same fashion as either Gnomes or Halflings.

Racial Traits[edit]

  • +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence, −2 Wisdom: Halfling Gnomes have become strong, tough, and intelligent, but are sometimes lacking in common sense (You'd have to be to play tricks on people larger than you).
  • Humanoid (Gnome): A type of Gnome, these creatures tend to empathize well with Halflings.
  • Small: Halfling Gnomes may be Small creatures, but are treated as Tiny beings in some ways due to their ''Nimble Frame''. Halfling Gnomes have a lifting and carrying limit of three-quarters of the weight a Medium character could handle.
Nimble Frame: Halfling Gnomes are treated as Tiny creatures when doing so would give them an advantage; this means they gain a +2 size bonus to Armor Class, a +2 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +8 size bonus on Hide checks.
Bonus Feat: Halfling Gnomes gain Mass-Induced Development as a bonus feat.
