Edgerippers[edit]

We shall shatter those necro bastards one by one!
—Edwin Hothwaite, elven Edgeripper

Edgerippers are battle-sorcerers of the Church of Modroben, powerful scholars of the Transmutation School of magic. They specialize in making the enemies of the Church easier for the more martial warriors to kill, and powerful Edgerippers can turn legions of high-powered undead into mere zombies.

Becoming an Edgeripper[edit]

Edgerippers are typically chosen from among the Spellclaine, the Sorcerer class of Claine. Their most important Ability Scores are Charisma and Intelligence.

Class Features[edit]

Like all members of the Church of Modroben, Edgerippers are expected to be neutral in most affairs (excepting only the defense of death, time and fate). Their class features should not be used except in the manner of church business and in direct self-defense. It is very rare for Edgeripper powers to be used against anyone other than undead creatures or necromancers. All of the following are class features of the Edgeripper:

Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in a spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. Edgeripper are transmutation specialists and gain an extra spell per day per level as other specialists do.

Spells: To cast a particular spell, you must have a Charisma score of at least 10 + the spell's level. Your bonus spells are based on your Charisma. Saves to avoid the effects of your spells have a DC of 10 + the spell's level + your Cha bonus (if any).

Cleave on Kill: Any object magically modified by an Edgeripper in any way becomes a Cleave on Kill object for one day longer than any other magical effect wears off.

Magic Weapon: At first level, Edgerippers can cast Magic Weapon at will. However, its bonus applies only to undead and can only be used on any one object one time per day.

Transmute Bone to Glass: Edgerippers can cast Transmute Bone to Glass one time per day per Edgeripper level. They always cast this spell as if they were two levels higher.

Bless Weapon: At second level, Edgerippers can bless any object, having the effect of Bless Weapon, making it a Good-aligned item. This power can be used any number of times a day but only once per day on any specific item.

Disrupting Weapon: At third level, Edgerippers can cast Disrupting Weapon one time per day.

At sixth level, Edgerippers can cast Disrupting Weapon three times per day.
At ninth level, Edgerippers can cast Disrupting Weapon ten times per day.

Greater Magic Weapon: At fourth level, Edgerippers can cast Greater Magic Weapon one time per day. The bonus this spell produces is always doubled against undead when it is cast by an Edgeripper.

Cleave Attack Weapon: At fifth level, Edgerippers can make any object into a Cleave Attack weapon, which uses the Edgeripper's Ability Score as its base. This power lasts a number of rounds equal to the Edgeripper's Charisma modifier; it can be used at will, however, any one object can only be affected one time per day.

Transformation: At fifth level, Edgerippers can cast Transformation a number of times per day equal to their Charisma modifier.

Reincarnate: At seventh level, Edgerippers can cast Reincarnate once per day, targeting undead creatures (who receive a Will save if they resist). Failure indicates they are reincarnated as an ordinary individial as described in the spell.

Impact Cleave Touch: At ninth level, Edgerippers can make an object an Impact Cleave object for one hour. This power can be used a number of times a day equal to their Charisma modifier. Edgerippers also turn every object they touch (whether they want to or not) into an Impact Cleave object for one minute.

Create Weakness: At tenth level, Edgerippers can create any undead creature's weakness in only one round. For example, if cast on a vampire, it can produce a stream of running water between him and the Edgeripper. This power can be used one time per day. The Edgeripper must know the undead creature's weakness. There is no save.
